With a background of extensive tooling knowledge gained from previously working at a manufacturing company in Denmark, Vitus decided to take the leap and build his own company with his son, John, in 1919, called V.A. Boker and Sons, Inc.
However, in 1925 a local artist carved the image of the grand tree in to a piece of the remaining trunk.
Unfortunately, the original chestnut tree was struck by lightning in 1925 and destroyed by the impact and subsequent fire.
Due to the high importance of the North and South American markets for the Boker Manufactory Solingen, the company logo has been showing the names Treebrand and Arbolito in addition to the Boker logo since 1947.
From the 1960’s Boker has a prominent knife brand in the United States.
In 1968, Boker’s was purchased by four of its employees: William Tedlund, Joseph Basara, Chester Engquist, and Joseph Kantorowicz, and was run successfully for many years.
In the early 1970's Wiss was sold to the multinational Cooper Industries.
Back in 1974, Bill Tedlund had the vision of expanding the business into every industry.
Even though Damascus steel has been known for centuries in the European and Oriental world, the intricately folded steel had never been used for the serial production of a pocket knife until 1980.
Cooper stopped their own knife production in 1983.
In 1995, another absolute success story was written with the Boker Speedlock.
As one of the first German companies ever, Boker presented its own web shop back in 2000, where customers from all over the world have been able to search for the perfect knife around the clock ever since.
The respectful relationship with the former Union Republics culminated in 2002 in the presentation of the first Boker Kalashnikov knife, which was designed and realised together with General Kalashnikov in the Boker Manufactory in Solingen.
Cinch knives by Boker are a result of a 2006 partnership between Boker and Cinch Jeans.
