Jane Alexander's LinkedIn

Digital Strategist and Technology Officer with extensive experience in innovative project development and hands on technology implementation. I believe that the most important responsibility of a leader is to attract and develop great people, and I have a deep commitment to empowering staff and get things done.

As Chief Digital Information Officer at the Cleveland Museum of Art, I am responsible for creating awe-inspiring and iterative digital projects that support a vision of digital transformation that best exemplifies the mission of the Cleveland Museum of Art. With an eye toward organizational transformation, I have spearheaded strategy through implementation and ongoing support of the museum's ground breaking interactive experiences.

In 2019, I led the CMA’s comprehensive Open Access initiative, which allows the public to share, collaborate, remix, and reuse high resolution images of 30,000 public-domain artworks as well as metadata for 61,000 artworks for commercial and non-commercial purposes. Additionally, from its inception in 2010, I have led every iteration of what was originally called Gallery One and is currently known as the ARTLENS Gallery. This world renowned multi-faceted, innovative experience inspires museum visitors to look closer and dive deeper in order to establish a connection with the museum's extensive collection. Using cutting-edge digital technology, the ARTLENS Gallery seamlessly integrates fun, curiosity and learning while endowing visitors with helpful skills to enhance their appreciation of the art throughout the museum. Both projects have won numerous national and international awards and have been featured in a wide variety of national publications.

I've worked on several high-profile technology projects, most notably as the technology director and design consultant to Frank Gehry's Peter B. Lewis Campus at Case Western Reserve University and virtual CIO to Great Lakes Science Center. Before moving to Cleveland, I directed Columbia University’s acclaimed distance education program, as well as the development of university-wide resources for instructional technology and methodology.
