GENERAL LABORER CREWLEADER - PUBLIC WORKS/STREETS DEPARTMENT
CITY OF GALLATIN
The purpose of this position is to lead and participate in semiskilled and skilled work in the maintenance of city property for the Streets Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Leads and participates with general streets, ground maintenance, utility and related work.
2. Leads and participates in mowing, edging, spraying, trimming, and mulching.
3. Leads and participates in the following (including but not limited to):
* Picking up litter on the side of City roads and other City owned property.
* Painting walls, handrails, pulling weeds, cutting down tree limbs, trimming shrubs, planting seeds, flowers or flower bulbs, shrubs and trees.
4. Performs various street maintenance duties such as cleaning ditches, raking and spreading asphalt, and patching holes.
5. Assists with forming/ pouring concrete, laying asphalt, installing pipe, and general work.
6. Removes, installs, and changes street signs, paint crosswalks and related street markings.
7. Serves as traffic flagger on street and utility projects.
8. Maintains chemicals and lawn/ snow equipment.
9. Perform other related tasks as required and cross-train to cover other department positions when necessary.
10. Regular and predictable attendance.
11. Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others.
12. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must have one (1) year of recent experience in construction, mowing, or landscaping. Preferred crew leading experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment.
Knowledge of simple mechanical systems.
Knowledge of the safe use of equipment, hand tools, and power tools required in the work.
Knowledge of maintaining construction and maintenance equipment.
Ability to provide direction.
Ability to ensure work crews always observe safe work practices.
Ability to handle emergencies.
Knowledge of blood borne pathogen regulations.
Ability to maintain simple records and prepare reports, manual or computerized.
Skill in making repairs and adjustments to equipment.
Ability to detect flaws in the operation of equipment and to determine proper remedial measures.
Ability to make decisions to accomplish specific tasks and operations within the scope of the position.
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods including under unfavorable weather conditions.
Ability to interact with the public effectively, professionally and politely, and with discretion.
Ability to effectively communicate with and establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department staff and other personnel.
Ability to understand and effectively carry out written and oral instructions.
Organizational and time management skills needed to meet deadlines.
Must have ability to work accurately with attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is medium work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally. Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Also includes the necessity to communicate by talking, hearing/listening. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus, for operation of machines and equipment, determination accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observation of general surroundings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions including, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, dust/dirt, grease/oils, paint fumes, moving parts of machinery and extreme weather conditions but hot and cold. Work is generally outdoors.

5 Years Prior experience in sealants/waterproofing application.

Job DescriptionPosition DescriptionJRC, Incorporated, a Nationwide Roofing and Construction company, is seeking a Roofing Foreman to manage their team in completing commercial low-slope and/or steep-slope roof repair/replacements throughout the U.S.
Week day travel required throughout the US. Must live in the Nashville, TN area.
Responsibilities
Check work for quality and ensure install standards are met
Motivate, lead, and assist team members as needed to complete roofing project on time and under budget
Diagnose variety of roof leaks during warranty calls
Perform final walk-through with property management
Ensure daily/weekly reports and paperwork submitted on time.
Ensure all work is completed in a craftsman like manner and to the specifications and satisfaction of the customer.
Review current days work with crews, and check job site & crews for proper repair & safety procedures
Make decisions regarding manpower and equipment needs to keep up production.
Experience:
Experience with TPO, EPDM, or PVC a plus
Satisfactory work record as a Foreman or Supervisor with a similar size-roofing contractor.
Valid State Driver's License
Requirements:
Dependable and self motivated
Ability to travel for at least 5 days at a time throughout the U.S.
Ability to lift, carry and move items weighing in excess of 50 lb. occasionally
Ability to climb ladders frequently and work on elevated roof surfaces
