DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Each year, thousands of people visit Pennsbury Manor, the reconstructed home of William Penn, to experience the history of colonial America and the founding of Pennsylvania. This 40-acre site features 20 buildings, including a modern visitor center and the reconstructed manor house, as well as gardens and historic landscapes and livestock.
As a Museum Educator 2, you will be an integral part of Pennsbury Manor's educational and interpretive team. You will play a lead role in planning, coordinating, and implementing school programs, guided tours, lectures, workshops, community outreach initiatives, and special events, ensuring they provide authentic and engaging experiences based in current standards for museum education. You will also oversee the site's guide staff as well as the volunteer and student intern programs, working in collaboration with site staff on recruitment, training, mentorship, coordination, and evaluation in support of museum programs and operations.
You will also have the opportunity to play an integral part in the daily operation of the historic site. This involves overseeing visitor services, including operation of the reception desk, visitor orientation, and point of sale operations.
At times, you will be the primary PHMC representative on-site, responsible for ensuring daily museum operations run smoothly and in alignment with established guidelines for safety. Additionally, you will be expected to uphold industry best practices and standards for excellence and to adhere to PHMC Core Values, ensuring that Pennsbury Manor remains a dynamic, engaging, and welcoming institution for all visitors.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 60-minute lunch. Occasional evening and weekend work for meetings and special events will be required.
