Our MST program is built on the principle that the serious behavior problems of a child typically stem from a combination of influences including family factors, deviant peer group, problems in school or the community, and individual characteristics. The MST model calls for simultaneously addressing all of those inter-related areas. Position Overview and Expectations * MST Family counselor carries a caseload of five (5) families. * The MST model requires the Family Counselor to meet with each family on their caseload at least three times per week. * Conduct MST assessments that include identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context. * Engage primary caregivers and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement. * Implement a problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcomes review and strategy revision procedure using the MST Analytic Process. * Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the nine MST Principles and the MST Analytic Process. * Ability to engage and collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system, to maintain alignment throughout MST treatment. * Provide direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices. * Participate in all MST training, supervision, consultation, and MST Therapist development activities. This Integrated Behavioral Health Provider may support patients receiving care services with MAHEC's OB/GYN or Internal Medicine Centers. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: CLINICAL (Behavioral Medicine Provider) Provide real time behavioral health consults for patients being seen by residents and faculty physicians, including warm handoffs and in-the-moment clinical input. Deliver brief, evidence-informed individual, family, and group interventions for adults, adolescents, and children, including crisis intervention when needed. Provide episodic, goal-focused care designed to address presenting concerns within a limited number of sessions, supporting same-day access and efficient movement through the care system. Conduct focused initial evaluations and Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, utilizing validated screening tools to inform diagnosis, treatment, and measurement-based care. Integrate internal and external collateral information into case conceptualization, treatment planning, and shared care plans with the medical team Triage referrals from medical providers to identify appropriate behavioral health services onsite or coordinate referral to external providers as needed. Day in the Life of a Substance Abuse Counselor • Provides individual counseling to highly complex patients • Conducts clinical assessments to appropriately assess patient's treatment needs • Designs and updates the patient's treatment plan, including care coordination, referrals, and discharge planning • Manages assigned caseload and compliance with clinical treatment requirements • Collaborates with nurses and providers to provide holistic treatment services • Facilitates urine drug screening for patients Schedule and Hours Our clinical team enjoys an early morning schedule with early afternoon out times. It is expected for all clinical team members to participate in our Saturday rotation. The frequency of this rotation is determined by the current staff count. Expected hours for this role are 37-40 hours per week. 4:45 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday 5:30 AM - 10:30 AM, rotating Saturdays Education and Experience requirements General experience working with underserved populations in a clinical setting.
