Job Responsibilities: Provide in-home intervention to children and their families utilizing skill-based, evidence-based practices to help families implement solutions to problems and strengthen families. Act as a resource, provider & advocate families to promote child welfare. Provide evidence-based interventions and case management support under contractual responsibilities. Utilize collaborative documentation. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community partners including DHHS, medical providers, “parent partners,” lawyers, therapists, law enforcement staff, school officials, neighbors, fictive kin, emotional supports, and referral sources. Provides evidence-based practices to families and individuals associated with the family, utilizing Solution-Based Casework, SafeCare, Child Safety Conferences, Motivational Interviewing, SFM & YTDM meetings. Maintain an appropriate level of direct contact with families per program requirements and remain available to families 24/7 for crisis intervention as needed. Ensure professionalism through role modeling, and respect. Utilize own vehicle to travel to work destinations and transport youth as authorized, provide services in the community, or in the primary home of the child and family. Report and document emergencies and critical incidents involving family members or staff. Participate actively in individual, group, and organizational supervisions/trainings. Transports youth in and around service area from a designated location to the place of the visit and back again understanding that being on time for every scheduled visit or transportation is crucial. Supervises the youth and their family members during scheduled visit times to ensure the safety of the children involved and that conversations are positive and appropriate. Observes and assesses behaviors of all parties and guides or redirects as needed to assist in the process of constructing a successful visit. Maintains and organizes documentation of each supervised visit and transportation and turns in reports within established timelines. Communicates as needed with the appropriate staff on various issues that arise with each case. Develops a working relationship with the youth and family members to build trust which is crucial in the process of prompting and modeling parenting skills to the parents and in assisting them with interacting constructively with their children. Youth Workers will provide a safe and secure environment for juveniles while assisting juveniles with their behavioral, emotional, medical and programming needs. Will advise parent(s) or guardian(s), caseworker, intake worker, community social worker, attorney, and relevant agencies as the procedures and processes of the facility. Youth Workers must be knowledgeable of the various segments of the Tribal Court and other resources that make up the tribal court system.
