Job Responsibilities

Manages and monitors detention center residents; screens residents to determine placement; deescalates residents and restrains if needed; supervises residents through all daily activities to include meals, chores, recreation time, and shower procedures; responds to various requests.
Conducts room searches; pats down residents entering and exiting the building and after visits; monitors security cameras to ensure residents are safe and well.
Conducts minute checks on residents on suicide watch or on room confinement; maintains accurate counts of medications, keys, pencils, and utensils each shift; completes and documents periodic fire drills.
Implements Aggression Replacement Training (ART), Yoga, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) training with residents; schedules speakers on a variety of topics to educate, motivate, and inspire residents; administers testing for advancement within our program.
Facilitates resident needs; schedules phone calls and visits with family, attorneys and Juvenile Court Officers; schedules haircuts as needed; cleans laundry, sheets, and blankets.
Monitors and verifies all required staff certifications are current to include CPI, CPR, ART, Medication Manager, and Safe Serve certifications.
Completes a variety of daily paperwork to include meal roster, phone list, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and notes regarding the daily activities and interactions of residents; scans and submits to Juvenile Court Officers; completes incident, restraint, and injury reports; writes behavioral observation notes for each resident at the end of each shift.
Processes the intake and discharge of residents; verifies discharge files are complete and orderly prior to annual audit; compiles and documents all court dates for residents; communicates with County Bailiffs regarding court dates for residents.
Prepares and serves all meals and snacks in compliance with the Federal School Lunch Program; cleans, sanitizes, and stores all dishes and utensils; takes out garbage and cleans kitchen after each meal; manages portion control; tracks food allergies for individual residents.
Responds to the medical needs of residents; administers minor first aid as needed; completes medical protocol for every injury; monitors residents that need to be taken to the hospital.
Prepares medications for transfer to other facilities; passes medications both prescribed and over the counter; documenting each med passed; orders and stores medication securely upon delivery.
Cleans up biohazardous materials; collects stool samples for lab tests; administers and evaluates mental health evaluations and makes referrals as needed.
Performs a variety of minor maintenance as needed in the evenings and on weekends when regular maintenance staff is off duty. Staff trains interns and new employees in all aspects of daily work.
Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.

Standards For Initial Consideration
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field; AND six (6) months of experience working with youths in the court system; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

This role involves providing on-scene trauma-informed support, advocacy, information, and referrals to survivors seeking treatment within the Emergency Room while maintaining strict confidentiality standards. This position includes working nights and weekends. Additionally, the Medical Response Advocate provides information and training on the intersection of intimate partner violence, specifically strangulation, and health care to healthcare providers and emergency medical technicians. They serve on various community committees and task forces representing the healthcare needs of intimate partner violence survivors.
GRANT FUNDING ADVISEMENT:
This position is 100% funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). DCEO grant funding for the current project will end on June 30, 2026. Acceptance of this position shall not be construed as a guarantee of employment beyond the grant-funded period.

They facilitate collaboration between healthcare staff, team members, and outside agencies, identifying and addressing the educational needs of medical personnel regarding intimate partner violence through in-service training and consultation. Focusing on crisis intervention, they conduct intake and assessment to determine clients' needs and eligibility for services, triage immediate needs, provide crisis responses, make appropriate referrals, and ensure a warm handoff to additional mid- and long-term support services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These essential duties are only illustrative.):
Facilitate collaboration between health care staff, Family Peace Center staff, project team members, and outside agencies serving survivors of intimate partner violence.
Ascertain intimate partner violence education needs of medical personnel and coordinate and provide in-service training and consultation to healthcare providers on intimate partner violence issues to meet the identified needs.
Accept referrals from health care staff. Interview patients to determine the appropriate services to be initiated and to obtain patients' consent to receive project services, direct services, and referrals.

Ensure all interactions, both within and outside the agency, affirm the value of diversity and respect individuals' gender, class, race, ethnicity, ability, religion/spirituality, cultural identity, immigrant or refugee status, and sexual orientation.
Adhere to the Family Peace Center's confidentiality and information-sharing process.
Uphold trauma-informed and survivor-driven principles and policies of the Family Peace Center.
Maintain current, thorough knowledge of issues about intimate partner violence, including their intersections with other forms of oppression and the need for empowerment-based survivor-centered advocacy.
Develop and distribute intimate partner violence materials to patients and healthcare providers.
Maintain and submit statistical information, reports, records of contact, and activities.
Assist as needed with accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Medical Advocacy Response Project via other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Perform basic assessment of clients' needs for medical, financial, and housing assistance and community resources.
* Assess referred clients who are at moderate-high risk to reoffend and clients who have been judicially released and are on diversion or community control.
* Interview clients, review clients' case files, speak with clients' attorney.
* Request client records (including but not limited to court records, medical records, education records, jail/program records for jail time credit purposes).
* Make necessary referrals and submit paperwork for eligibility determination by provider.
* Research available resources at government entities, faith and community-based organizations, and other service providers.
* Assist in securing medical benefits, housing, utility bill assistance, veterans assistance, and other assistance.
* Identify availability and accessibility of appropriate and effective community interventions that will address the client's needs and coordinates community linkage services as appropriate for client and client's family while the client's case is pending disposition, until client has successfully completed diversion, or until client's community control ends.
* Track client progress and outcomes.
* Participate in planning of support systems for clients.
* Maintain data on all current clients; maintain data on local social services; track client data; track court-ordered evaluation scheduling and communicate with stakeholders to monitor completion and records.
* Input records and case notes into web-based case management system.
* Prepare and maintain required reports and/or progress notes.
* Maintain working relationships with attorneys, justice stakeholders, clients, families, and facilities.
* Under the direction of State Assistant Public Defenders, prepare written and oral statements for in-court presentations as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Answer phone calls and forward calls to appropriate parties for response.
* Coordinate attorney calls to clients and attorney visits to county jails and state prisons.
* Assist with retrieving documents at county, state, and federal courts and other offices.
* Provide administrative and clerical assistance.

Essential Functions:
Recruit, engage, and license an adequate number of foster families to fulfill the placement and respite goals of the program.
Ensure all components of the evidenced-based model used by the program are in place in the foster homes and foster services maintain the model with fidelity.
Schedule and deliver TFCO training to newly recruited foster parents. May deliver individual training or refresher sessions with foster parents as needed to keep them on models.
Complete parent daily report calls (PDR) with foster families, entering the data in Focus and with fidelity to the model. May serve as back-up if primary responsibility is assigned elsewhere.
Complete and submit all other agency required reports related to recruitment and training activities, including keeping the agency database/tracking sheets updated.
Participate in supervisory process for guidance, direction, support, and approval of decision making, assessment, service planning and intervention. Present cases for staffing or participate in staffings as needed, including weekly team meetings.
Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner.
Position Qualifications:In addition to a real passion for working with at-risk children and families, this opportunity requires:
Bachelor's degree in social services or related field required.
Child Welfare Employee License (CWEL), 402, CCA certifications or able to obtain is required.
Training in Treatment Foster Care of Oregon (TFCO) model, or available to participate in TFCO training when hired.
Prior experience in child welfare, foster care or other related area preferred.
Experience performing all needed foster parent licensing duties preferred.
Demonstrated ability communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute and effective and ongoing recruitment strategy.
Demonstrated ability to motivate foster parents to participate and adhere to a highly detailed treatment model and provide services using a team approach.
Demonstrated ability to relate to others and/or influence others.
Background check clearance, both criminal and CANTS required. Valid driver's license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
