Internship Program Overview: Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer.
Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC's many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program.
Department Overview: The Innovation Industries Department seeks to understand the rapidly changing landscape of NYC's key economic sectors and to conceive, develop, and implement innovative programs that address specific sector challenges and opportunities. Innovation Industries projects are agile, strategic, and impact focused. We create, launch, and manage programs that partner with and impact the following industries and sectors, as well as support diverse entrepreneurship: urban innovation & sustainability, gaming, fashion, emerging & applied technology, AI/ML, blockchain and web3, cybersecurity, fintech, and life sciences. Intern Responsibilities:
* Assist Innovation Industries' Life Sciences and Healthcare team in advancing a data-driven clinical research and development initiative, focusing on procurement and business development activities such as partnership cultivation
* Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on life sciences and healthcare trends in NYC and globally, including stakeholder interviews to inform business development strategies
* Assist with project planning and implementation, including financial analysis, procurement outreach & coordination, and partnership engagement to drive growth opportunities
* Create presentations that effectively communicate research findings, business development opportunities, project findings and/or project recommendations to multiple audiences
* Help coordinate and execute events and meetings that strengthen industry ecosystem relationships
* Assist in drafting memorandums and other materials for pre-launch of project
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Preferred field(s) of study: Life Sciences/Healthcare, Data Science/AI, Business Development & Strategy, Public Health, and/or sector-specific programs are a plus, or related field
* Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
* Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC and the LifeSci NYC initiative
* Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
* Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
* Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
* Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
* Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program
