Summary and Objective

Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair various refrigerant systems to include; Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems, Chillers, Reversible Chillers, CRAC Units
* Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools, cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant, installs various refrigerant valves in circuit(s)
* Tests joints and connections in refrigerant piping for leaks using leak detector, verifies leak free using vacuum pump and vacuum hold test
* Test and verify proper operation of components, connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and ventilation fans
* Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units
* Adds/removes freon to refrigerant systems to achieve proper subcooling and superheat
* Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to insure proper operation
* Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands
* Install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging up to 500 tons cooling capacity in warehouses, barracks and commercial buildings
* Prepare work orders and cost materials estimates
* Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques.
