Fuzhou / Mandarin Analytic Linguists are responsible for monitoring, transcribing, translating, interpreting, and analyzing source material assisting law enforcement with their investigations into narco-trafficking, counterfeiting, terrorism, fraud and money laundering. Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
Monitor: To listen to or read foreign language communications, then subsequently type summaries into the English language.
Transcribe: To render the spoken word of a language into the written form of the same language.
Translate: To render the spoken or written word of one language into the written form of another language.
Interpret: To translate orally either consecutively or simultaneously from source language to target language.
Analyze: To examine methodically and in detail the constitution of information for purposes of explanation and interpretation.
Requirements:
Clear, concise, effective written and spoken communication skills in English, Fuzhou and Mandarin
Ability to summarize and translate audio and text, including slang and colloquialisms, in a real time manner
Demonstrate prior interpreting and/or translating experience in a professional or personal setting

Job Summary:
Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Urban English to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding of colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agent(s). The linguist will be responsible for transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Listens to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Urban English and provides verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as it may be applicable per project.
Responsible for relating all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contributes to a master-list of slang words and codes (used by a particular group/organization) for the duration of the project/case.
Maintains a voice library for the duration of the project.

To provide patient, guardians, and staff access to employees who accurately interpret via face-to-face encounters during designated hours noted in the designated broadcasting system. Spanish Interpreters are bilingual and proficient in English and Spanish to interpret health care information to and from Spanish-speaking patients/guardians and Cook Childrens Medical Center Prosper health care providers. Provides Spanish Interpretation and Translation for all aspects of emergency care and inpatient care. Act as a Language Liaison between the patient, guardians, and staff in support of the medical plan of care. Facilitates acquisition of Interpreter Services for non-Spanish Languages (via OPI/over the phone interpreter, VRI/video remote interpreter and/or on-site interpreter contract services).

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrates proficiency in English and secondary language.
Special consideration for experienced Interpreter in the following language: Spanish.

The Spanish Interpreter will provide patients, families, visitors, and staff access to employees who accurately interpret via face-to-face encounters during designated hours. Spanish Interpreters are bilingual and proficient in English and Spanish with the ability to interpret health care information to and from Spanish-speaking patients/patients' families and Medical Center health care providers. Will act as a language liaison between the patient, family, and staff in support of the medical plan of care. Facilitates acquisition of Interpreter services for non-Spanish languages (via OPI/over the phone, VRI/video remote interpreter and/or contract services).
Note: ** This position is PRN with varying hours, morning, evening, overnight, weekend, and holidays. ** Will require 4-6 weeks of in-person training at Fort Worth Medical Center.
Required Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years of experience working in a healthcare setting.
Current knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
Previous interpretation/translation experience (preferred).
Ability to precisely and accurately translate critical medical information from English to the patient's native language.
Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
Excellent communication and active listening skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Ability to interact and communicate with people in-person and over the telephone, often in stressful situations.
Required Certification & Testing:
Selected applicants must meet Spanish proficiency levels defined by Cook Children's Health Care System and measured by objective and nationally recognized oral language, reading, and writing tests prior to employment.
All selected applicants are tested prior to an offer being made to determine their Spanish proficiency level, and must test at a proficient level to qualify. Testing will be administered by a contracted testing service. Spanish proficiency levels are verified as part of the employee's annual review.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Health Care Providers is required within 30 days of employment and must be maintained.
