Job Summary:
Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding of colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agent(s). The linguist will be responsible for transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Listens to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provides verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as it may be applicable per project.
Responsible for relating all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contributes to a master-list of slang words and codes (used by a particular group/organization) for the duration of the project/case.
Maintains a voice library for the duration of the project.
Transcribes and translates pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
Produce court ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
Responsible for using the various reference tools created during the project.
Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
Operates specialized software equipment provided by the government to include JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at their assigned site.
Maintain daily log of productivity.
Performs related duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years' experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years' experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language

Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.

Medical Scribe
* Assists providers with documentation of each patient's medical chart during their visit
* Transcribes a history and physical examination as given by the patient and provider
* Documents all procedures performed by the provider or nurses in patient medical charts
* Uses various EHR tools to congregate data collected for statistical reports for efficiency and accuracy
* Transcribes consultations and discussions by family members and/or providers, including electronic signatures on changes made to patient progress notes

Responsibilities
Sign Language Interpreters are assigned some combination of the following duties:
* Perform effective sign language interpreting and transliterating services for students, faculty and staff according to accepted American Sign Language/English interpreting procedures.
* Provide sign language and English interpreting and transliterating for deaf and hard of hearing students, faculty and staff in both educational and non-academic settings..
* Serve as an interpreter at various campus events including department meetings, student orientations, professional development activities, counseling appointments, placement procedures, field trips, theatrical productions and other extracurricular activities.
* Provide educational interpreting for students in a lecture environment and individualized instruction.
* Serve as a liaison between the deaf and hearing impaired students, school faculty and staff; explain the needs and concerns of students.
* Consult with faculty to identify potential problems that could inhibit the effective provision of interpreting services including instructional materials or closed-caption equipment.
* Video Remote interpreting may be required depending on the structure of the course or event.
* Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Sign Language Interpreter I: High school graduate or equivalent, graduated from interpreter training program and combination of two (2) years' experience. OR
* Sign Language Interpreter II: High school graduate or equivalent, graduated from interpreter training program and combination of three (3) years' experience and shall provide proof of Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) in process.OR
* Sign Language Interpreter III: High school graduate or equivalent graduated from interpreter training program and combination of more than five (5+) years' experience, and shall possess Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification. AND
* Sign language interpreters must have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, have excellent listening skills, and a solid grasp of English grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation.
* They must possess strong receptive and expressive communication skills as well as understand the message, convey the register, tone, intent, and content of the speaker.
* They must be able to accurately convey information from one language to another.
* Must be able to work effectively with students/faculty. They are required to know their respective industry Professional Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional Practice and Confidentiality.
* Knowledge of:
* Methods and techniques of signing and interpreting for the deaf and hearing impaired. Interpretation and application techniques of American Sign Language (ASL). Use and operation of various devices for deaf and hearing impaired. Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers. Proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Code of ethics for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
* Ability to:
* Perform interpreting services for the deaf and hearing impaired. Communicate effectively to the deaf and hearing impaired using American Sign Language and/or contact signing. Interpret and explain school policies and procedures. Provide interpretation services in both academic and non-educational settings. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
* Must possess the necessary equipment needed to provide Video Remote Interpreting; including but not limited to computer/laptop with camera, stable and reliable internet connection, microphone and speakers, proper lighting.
* Clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Court Interpreter performs a wide variety of language interpretation activities on an assigned and as needed basis for the Superior Court of California and for parties to proceedings, including witnesses, defendants, attorneys, other court personnel, and the public. Court Interpreters perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of courtroom proceedings and other related interpreting services as needed. Incumbents in this classification also perform sight translation (reading written texts and giving an oral translation of text) as needed. This position requires travel within a designated geographic region and may additionally require travel throughout Orange County.
Duties for the classification may include, but are not limited to:
Interprets from and into English and the applicable non-English language using simultaneous and consecutive modes at court proceedings and for other court-related departments at the direction of the court.
Makes sight translations for the benefit of the court of documents including, but not limited to, court petitions, reports, waivers, felony disposition statement forms, and other documents.
Interprets for judges, attorneys, court staff, and other court-related departments at the direction of the court.
Notifies the court of any issues or situations that may impede the interpreters' performance.
Researches and understands terminology used in court and functions of the court which may include but not be limited to legal, technological, scientific, and/or medical terminology.
Reviews the daily docket and receives daily calendar assignments from the Trial Court Interpreter Coordinator (or designee) and accurately completes daily activity logs, or other documentation as required.
Performs other language interpretation duties as assigned, such as providing general court information at an information counter to the non-English speaking public and processes documents related to interpretation.

Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Urban English to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding of colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agent(s). The linguist will be responsible for transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Listens to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Urban English and provides verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as it may be applicable per project.
Responsible for relating all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contributes to a master-list of slang words and codes (used by a particular group/organization) for the duration of the project/case.
Maintains a voice library for the duration of the project.
Transcribes and translates pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
Produce court ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
Responsible for using the various reference tools created during the project.
Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
Operates specialized software equipment provided by the government to include JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at their assigned site.
Maintain daily log of productivity.
Performs related duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years' experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years' experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language

Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Must be able to meet contract requirement of a score of 3 or better on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English
