Nebraska Methodist Health System CEO and leadership

Steve Goeser was named president and chief executive officer of Methodist Health System in 2018. He joined Methodist Hospital in June 2004 as vice president and oversaw the hospital’s home health program, Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center and the departments of Pastoral Services, Volunteers in Partnership (VIP), medical records, transcription and referral communications, as well as the hospital and state tumor registries.

In 2007, Goeser was promoted to president and chief executive officer of Methodist Hospital. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the planning and construction of The Pathology Building-Schenken Pavilion and Methodist Women’s Hospital, as well as Methodist Hospital’s $90 million surgery renovation and expansion project.

Prior to joining Methodist Hospital, Goeser served as the chief executive officer of Myrtue Memorial Hospital, the Shelby County Medical Corporation and the Prairie Rose Mental Health Center in Harlan, Iowa. He had previously been administrator and chief executive officer at Orange City Municipal Hospital and Medical Clinic in Orange City, Iowa.

Goeser earned his bachelor’s degree at Creighton University and his Master of Business Administration in health care administration from City University in Bellevue, Washington.

Jeffrey (Jeff) Francis is a VP of Finance & CFO at Nebraska Methodist Health System and is based in Greater Omaha Area. He has worked as CFO at Parkview Health and Chief Administrative & Financial Officer at Ministry Health Care. Jeffrey studied at DEPAUW UNIVERSITY between 1987 and 1991 and Creighton University between 1992 and 1994.

Bill Lydiatt, MD, a veteran member of Methodist Hospital’s medical staff, is vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer.

Dr. Lydiatt, a head and neck surgical oncologist, has been a member of the Methodist Hospital medical staff since 1996. He has been integral to the growth and success of the head and neck program at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center and Methodist Hospital. He also serves as chairman of the department of surgery.

He is committed to educating others and has been instrumental in the growth of the head and neck resident and fellowship programs. He also enjoys teaching other disciplines, and his ongoing efforts and dedication to his profession have been acknowledged with various awards and recognition.

As vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer, Dr. Lydiatt will help develop the health system’s strategic plan, implement new developments in medical techniques, assist in recruiting and retaining medical providers, and oversee the leadership and services of the medical staff department. He will continue seeing patients at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center.

The Stanford University graduate received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in head and neck oncologic surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He earned his executive MBA from the University of Colorado.

Elizabeth Borisow serves as chief advancement officer for Methodist Hospital Foundation. She is responsible for the Planned Giving program and the Professional Advisory Council. She also serves as a liaison to Nebraska Methodist College by managing the Alumni Development and Scholarship programs and their fundraising efforts.

Elizabeth joined Methodist Hospital Foundation in May 2008. Prior to joining Methodist, she worked in the insurance industry with experience in life insurance, workers compensation, disability insurance and others.

Borisow earned bachelor’s degrees in human resource management, sociology and psychology from Hastings College. While at Hastings College she was part of the back to back national championship basketball teams and received the NAIA National Player of the Year Award.

Gregory Hutteger, DO, joined Nebraska Methodist Health System as a family medicine physician for Methodist Physicians Clinic in September 2006. For the past five years he has also served as medical director of informatics.

In July 2015, he was appointed to the role of chief medical information officer for the health system. As chief medical information officer, Dr. Hutteger will work with informatics, analyst, staff, and physicians to implement and improve the electronic health record throughout Methodist Health System.

Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Hutteger continues to care for patients at the Methodist Physicians Clinic Regency clinic location as well as Methodist Hospital. Raised in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Dr. Hutteger and his wife have three children. He attended medical school at A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (Kirksville, Mo.), prior to completing his family medicine residency in Michigan.

Kent Sona is vice president of information technology and chief information officer for Methodist Health System. He was appointed to the position in 2018, after serving as the director of infrastructure and chief technology officer since 2016.

Serving in this capacity, Sona oversees Methodist Health System’s Information Technology Division. During his time at Methodist, he has been instrumental in establishing the current and long-range vision of the health system’s information technology infrastructure and strategy, keeping Methodist at the forefront of technological change.

Sona joined Methodist Health System in 2016, with more than 18 years of experience obtained at a variety of organizations in Omaha, including a role as IT project manager at HDR and director of information services at West Corporation.

Sona also served our nation with an impressive nine year career in the United States Army as both an information systems operator and combat medic.

Sona earned his master’s degree in business administration from Bellevue University, holds a bachelor’s degree in business-information systems from the University of Phoenix, and is an experienced project management professional (PMP).

He currently serves on the board of the Iowa Rural Health Telecommunications Program (IRHTP).

Melinda Kentfield is a VP, Chief Nursing Officer, Methodist Fremont Health at Nebraska Methodist Health System.
