Home Care Assistants are responsible for assisting residents with in-home care including, but not limited to, assistance with tasks of daily living: personal grooming, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transporting residents to medical appointments, or running errands. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Strives to incorporate the philosophy and mission of the facility and to incorporate the facility's goal of quality care in a personal manner with total regard for individual human dignity. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides personal care assistance to residents as directed (bathing, grooming, assisting with meals, toileting) with ADL's utilizing standard precautions. Prepares residents for meals, by either taking them to GR dining areas, collecting their meals for them, or preparing and serving their meals. Helps residents with ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercises, and turning and repositioning while in bed. Obtains vital signs on residents whose medical conditions warrant such monitoring. Obtains urine samples, weights, intake/output, empties foley catheter bags. Regularly checks on residents ensuring comfort, dignity and privacy, responds to residents' requests promptly, makes sure all needs are met. Performs related duties as assigned for efficient Home Care Department operation. Ensures resident maintains a safe environment, keeping them exempt from avoidable accident, injury or infection. Attends all in-services and meetings as required, serves on committees as assigned. Keeps residents' home free of clutter, keeps transport vehicles clean and with fuel. Reports any vehicle maintenance needs to Home Care Supervisor. Monitors any change in residents' behavior or condition, reports such changes to HCM. Requirements Current CNA License and Certification in NC. NC Driver's License. CPR/AED Certification Must be able to write reports as required for patient care reporting. Basic mathematical ability; comprehension of quantities and measures. Ability to work independently for scheduled periods of time.
