    The Armed Security Officer provides armed security services to protect property and persons from sabotage, fire, espionage, theft, vandalism, and other hazards; controls entry and exit of all personnel, vehicles and other equipment at entry points to the National Guard Facility or Base. The Armed Security Officer assists and directs visitors; enforces parking regulations; ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, rules and laws; prepares and maintains records and documents; monitors base alarm systems; and attends training and safety classes. Salary Information New hires currently start at $25.38 per hour once they pass the qualification to carry firearms. This starting wage consists of a base pay of $23.38 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour add-on to the hourly rate for carrying a firearm while on duty. (The employer will provide the required firearm training.) These positions also have Protective Occupation Status within the Wisconsin Retirement System, which is an accelerated retirement benefit.
