This role involves assisting with academic instruction, classroom management, and personal care tasks to ensure students' success in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support students with disabilities in both special education and general education classrooms.
* Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the direction of the special education teacher.
* Provide one-on-one or small group instruction as needed.
* Support students with adaptive skills, including personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and toileting.
* Monitor and assist with students' behavioral and social development.
* Utilize positive behavior reinforcement strategies and assist in implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
* Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and transportation if necessary.
* Assist in collecting data for progress monitoring and IEP goals.
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support student learning.
* Set up and organize classroom materials, prepare instructional activities, and maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
* Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
* Ability to assist students with mobility challenges, including transferring in and out of wheelchairs and adaptive seating.
