It takes good communication skills to be tech support. Since tech support is a job inherently based around solving problems for others, having good communication and customer service abilities is mandatory.

The bulk of the jobs in the technical support field are those in the help desk, in which you will be taking numerous calls daily, working to help customers troubleshoot the issues with their computers.

As tech support, you are the first point of contact for frustrated customers with technical issues. This role can be extremely stressful and requires a calm and reassuring person with great customer service skills. You will likely be working with staff or customers who have minimal technical knowledge.

Even though you may have a vast knowledge of technology and know the solution to the customer's problem, the challenge of this job comes from needing to translate that knowledge into a simple and easy-to-follow format to efficiently resolve the client's problem without frustrating them further.
