What is an employee service representative?
An employee service representative is a company representative who responds to employee questions and concerns about workplace policies and benefits. This role is similar to a customer service representative role, except the customers are fellow employees, and the product is the company.
Employee service representatives respond to employee questions and inquiries about employee benefit programs and human resources policies. This can be about anything from retirement accounts to COBRA to how many days off the employee has accumulated.
To be successful as an employee service representative, a person needs to know the various ins and outs of the company policies and benefits programs. This means that part of their job is to maintain information systems, prepare appropriate documentation, and process the necessary paperwork.
An employee service representative may also create and manage the benefits packages for the employees of a company. In this role, a person may be responsible for developing benefits packages based on job classification and seniority and regularly review these agreements to create a more cost-effective plan.
