    Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is searching for full and part-time Residential Treatment Specialists on its Minot, ND campus. The Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is unlike any place you have worked! We are a place of hope where troubled kids and their families find professional care, compassionate expertise, and new possibilities. In short, we help the kids no one else can-we help them find and become who they are. Starting Wage: $20/hour plus benefits with option to have on-demand daily pay Schedule: We are hiring for the following shifts: 10 pm to 8 am awake overnight shift . This is a compressed work week of 10-hour shifts. Must work every other weekend. If part-time is better for you, we can discuss a flexible schedule including 4-6 hour shifts; 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts; and split shifts. While we are flexible with shifts, we do have mandatory trainings that are held during normal business hours (M-F, 8 to 5) that must be completed prior to being assigned flex scheduling. What You Will Do: As a Residential Treatment Specialist, you are an integral part of our team, requiring the ability to motivate, de-escalate, and coach youth during their time with us and be a key influence on putting our Ranch culture of Purpose, Caring, and Learning into action. Purpose: You recognize our kids by their strengths and do not judge or interact with them based on their history or behavior Guide youth to reach their goals by fostering relationships through positive role-modeling and positive, supportive influence Maintain supervision of youth, providing oversight and care for youth in residential and community settings Caring: You create a warm, welcoming environment that provides a safe place for kids to grow and learn and for staff to thrive. Provide information and interact with parents, referring workers, therapists, and other professionals concerning the status of clients Implement interventions on youth's treatment plans and evaluate progress. Learning: You evaluate our programs, attend trainings, and integrate new practices to ensure our kids and families receive the best care we can provide. Participate in clinical programming activities with clients (i.e., groups, recreation, therapeutic riding, etc.) Record observations relating to actions and behavior of youth and maintain records and reports as required, daily documentation, i.e., weeklies, logs Minimum qualifications/education: Must be 21 or older at the time of application. High school diploma or equivalent. Must pass a background check, including criminal, abuse, and motor vehicle Post-secondary studies in social science, psychology, behavioral health, or human service-related fields are preferred but not required.     Job Description Career Preparation Counselor Reports To: Career Preparation Supervisor The Career Preparation Counselor position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24. Summary of Duties: Responsible for delivering counseling services to assigned students during CPP in areas of personal, social, behavioral, and employability development. Staff must provide crisis, individual and group counseling. Key Areas of Responsibilities: Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data. Provides career counseling services to students in accordance with Center plan. Provides ongoing structured, scheduled and documented individual career counseling sessions, which may be scheduled as part of a student's career development activity. Provides individual and group counseling sessions. Communicates progress information to student's family and aids in solving problems related to transition and adjustment to Job Corps. Provides crisis counseling, including pregnancy counseling. Discusses sexual harassment and fraternization policy with students and counsels behavior as needed. Provides prompt resolution of any student's issues or difficulties. Maintains an awareness and sensitivity to diversity. Develops Personal Career Development Plan (PCDP) with students and outline actions necessary to rectifyany barriers to placement. Assists in Center adjustment and serves as a liaison between students, staff, family, and community services: Assists with students' arrivals. Confers with parents, admissions counselors, CTS, social service agencies and other community resources to ensure adjustment to Center. Provides structured, scheduled, and documented individual social development and adjustment counseling. Develops counseling plan to address students' negative behaviors and a plan to reward positive behavior. Develops system to share information with other staff, departments, and community resources in accordance with PRH as needed to ensure the coordinated delivery of services to students. Ensures that counseling services are effectively integrated and coordinate with other career preparation activities. Identifies student's personal and academic issues so that the appropriate support can be provided. Makes training area, residential living, and recreational observations to identify student issues to provide appropriate support. Recommends referrals for psychiatric, medical, substance use and abuse evaluations and care. Refers students to other community agencies for training or services not provided by the Center. Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree with at least 15 semester hours of instruction in Social Services related area. One year's experience in counseling related services.
