Catamaran company history timeline

1996

In 1996 a new management team was brought in to advance the group to the next level, headed up by charter industry veterans Hugh Murray and Gisela Cuadros, the former President and Financial Director of Sunsail USA respectively.

The Beneteau group took over the Jeanneau shipyards in 1996 and handed over the development of the Lagoon brand, a legacy of its acquisition, to Construction Navale Bordeaux.

1998

In 1998 The Catamaran Company was appointed the dealer for Lagoon Catamarans, a division of "Groupe Beneteau", the world's largest builder of sailing yachts, with a territory covering Florida and the Southern states.

1999

In 1999, slightly before the growth of the internet as a valid marketing tool, the company purchased the domain name The Catamaran Company and over the next five years invested more than $1M building a web team to develop the world's largest catamaran website.

2003

From 2003 until today, The Catamaran Company became and continues to be the highest ranked catamaran website on the internet.

2 Hulls also owned the website www.2hulls.com which was the first and leading catamaran website since the mid 90's until it was overtaken in 2003 by The Catamaran Company.

The messages have to do with medical treatment assistance including the delivery and refill reminders of medication and patient monitoring for people with chronic diseases. It was founded in 2003 in Birmingham, Alabama.

2004

In 2004, The Catamaran Company embarked on a growth path with its acquisition of "2 Hulls Inc.", their largest competitor in the used catamaran market in Florida.

Also in 2004 a Catamaran Sales Office was opened in Key Largo, Florida, operated by Bill Ware, one of the foremost catamaran specialists in the industry.

2005

In 2005, The Catamaran Company continued its expansion with the opening of the Annapolis Catamaran Center and within 12 months was appointed the Lagoon dealer for the Mid-Atlantic States.

Also in 2005, mainly due to a large increase in the number of sales and the growth of its business The Catamaran Company set up a new company to handle the paperwork side of the business and called it appropriately Details, Details.

2006

Lauderdale, FL, United States, 2006/06/22 - A synopsis of The Catamaran Companies history and description of its multiple offices.

After going public on the NASDAQ stock market in 2006, the company shifted its headquarters from Milton, Ontario to Chicago, the city ComCoTec was based in.

2008

It is now known as InformedRx, a division of SXC. On December 19, 2008, the company also acquired Zynchros, an eight-year-old Seattle-based formulary management business.

2009

In 2009 a new Catamaran Sales office was opened in St Augustine, Florida.

In 2009 The Catamaran Company purchased a majority interest in Performance Cruising Inc., the manufacturer of Gemini Catamarans.

2010

In October 2010 Seawind acquired Corsair Marine, the world’s foremost trailer trimaran manufacturer who has built over 2,500 boats during their 30+ year history.

SXC purchased private company MedfusionRx, Inc on December 2, 2010 for $100 million.

2012

In 2012 a new Sales Office was opened in Lauderdale Marine Center, the largest yacht yard in South Florida.

In 2012, SXC agreed to buy rival Catalyst Health Solutions Inc. in a roughly $4.14 billion cash-and-stock deal.

2015

In 2015, health insurer UnitedHealth Group agreed to buy pharmacy benefit manager Catamaran Corp in a deal worth about $12.8 billion.

2017

2017 is also the year in which two new models are launched: the Saona 47 by Fountaine Pajot Sailing Catamarans and the MY 44 by Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts, both honored since by the international press.
