GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As a professional educator in a Catholic school, the Teacher will:

Farm Production:

Product deliveries and supply runs as needed
Maintaining quality, sanitation, and freshness standards
Record keeping and farm data entry support

Assist with food distribution and farmers' markets and Growing Home events which includes some weekends
Treat all customers respectfully and courteously

Our Illinois Migrant Educational Services program delivers non-credit instruction and supplemental supports to parents and children of migratory farmworkers in Illinois. Our NIU STEAM project delivers STEAM-forward curriculum and instruction. Duties of this Educator will include providing instruction to eligible students between the ages of 2 and 22 in math, reading, life skills and social emotional learning. Additional assignments will be within NIU STEAM to ensure that their programming is culturally relevant. Preferred that the educator is Bilingual in Spanish, both speaking and writing.
Position Summary
This position will be primarily focused on tasks which support and supplement educational needs of migratory farmworkers and their children. The skill most-valued in the Educator is in building trusting relationships with families that lead to tutoring, summer school, field trips and other family educational gatherings and more. The Educator must have reliable transportation (travel reimbursed) and must be willing to drive within 1-2 hours if needed to deliver educational supports to eligible students. Educators will also help with communication with school districts, ensuring that children are enrolled and receiving their rightful services from school districts. All work is focused on equity and academic and supplemental supports, including out of school youth (up to age 22).

Education and Experience Required
A. Minimum educational requirements.

* Preferred, Illinoiseducator licensure
* Preferred, experience/endorsement in English as a Second Language
* Preferred, bilingual in reading and speaking Spanish
B. Minimum experience requirements. Specify both type and length of experience required.
* Two years' experience as an educator in a private or public setting
* Experience with Latinx programming
* Preferred residence in Champaign county (or surrounding east-central IL counties)
