HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT
As a Family Support Coordinator you'll play a vital role in advancing our mission. In this position, under the general direction of the Manager, Family Support Services and the Manager On Call (MOC), you'll be responsible for obtaining authorization for donation, provides organ-donation-informed emotional support and guidance to family members of potential organ donors by providing assistance with end- of- life decisions by providing timely assessment and support where applicable, facilitating the approach for organ and tissue donors, and supporting the family with the transition to the organ recovery phase of the process. The FSC is required to make independent decisions when approaching families based on training and experience. Collaborates with hospital staff as well as other LNH staff to determine the appropriate time to approach the family to obtain authorization and perform Donor Risk assessment form.

* Donation Advocacy with Hospital Partners: Works within hospital to increase physician and other hospital personnel openness and responsiveness to potential organ and tissue donation by developing and maintaining effective relationships with key physicians and other personnel.
* Authorization Process Management: Conducts the Donor risk assessment interview with the family or next of kin and documents accurately in compliance with quality systems and corporate programs.

Salary Range: $57,373 - $76,484/annually

1) You'll be joining the Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center team, a department committed to a spirit of excellence in providing timely and relevant university mental health services. You will be an embedded counselor in the department of Residential Well-being.
2) You'll be reporting to the Director and RWB coordinator in a regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
3) You'll coordinate with the managing directors for the campus community.
4) You'll be responsible for supporting students in the Cook Counseling Center and in the residence halls by providing individual services to students including initial assessment and treatment planning, individual, couples, and group psychotherapy; conducting crisis interventions and back up for our after-hours on-call service.
5) You'll provide outreach and trainings to the residential well-being staff, outreach to students in the university community and ongoing therapy with residential students.
6) You'll work 2:00 pm - 11:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Friday. Weekly meetings will include Cook Counseling staff meetings, small group supervision, as well as various RWB meetings.
7) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $55,000 - $65,000, along with free, residential housing with utilities on the VA Tech Blacksburg campus and a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology or social work
• Licensed or licensed-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker. Supervision may be provided with a goal of licensure within 1-2 years from start date of employment, depending on degree and licensure requirements.
• Experience in providing focused therapeutic interventions within a multidisciplinary team.
• Supervised experience in a mental health setting. Experience providing group psychotherapy.
• Experience with managing crisis situations, completing risk assessments, and disposition planning to address safety risks.
• Well-developed counseling and clinical supervision skills.
• A self-motivated, self-directed commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice.
