This is a fast growing research area that is leveraging powerful generative AI models to serve as robust artificial model systems for human language and cognition. The University of Michigan will recruit four researchers in artificial intelligence-related research, as part of a cluster of new AI-related positions in the Departments of Linguistics, Psychology, Philosophy, and Psychiatry. All four faculty will also have the opportunity to affiliate with the Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science. We seek outstanding applicants with a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field whose research engages with artificial intelligence in linguistics and language cognition research.
