About Aviation Electronics, Electrical, and Computer Systems Technicians (AV) work with some of the most advanced aircraft systems in the world. They repair and maintain electrical and electronic systems ranging from radar and communications to navigation and weapon systems. AV Sailors may also volunteer as Naval Aircrewmen, performing in-flight duties and operating radar and weapon systems.
Responsibilities
Depending on your rating (AE or AT), you may:
Troubleshoot and repair complex aircraft systems, including digital computers, fiber optics, infrared detection, radar, and laser electronics.
Maintain electrical power generation and distribution systems.
Test and calibrate aircraft instruments and automatic flight controls.
Perform micro-miniature module repair on circuit cards.
Install modifications to aircraft electronics systems.
Operate diagnostic equipment and read electrical diagrams.
Work Environment
AV technicians serve at sea and ashore worldwide. Work may be performed in hangars, onboard aircraft carriers, in labs, or outdoors on flight lines. Youll work closely with other technicians, often with minimal supervision, in both technical and operational settings.
Training & Advancement
Class A Technical School Pensacola, FL (1826 weeks) Covers aviation theory, electrical systems, electronics theory, and technical skills. After training, Sailors are assigned to AE or AT
ratings and may serve at naval air stations, squadrons, or aboard carriers. Advanced training is available for specific aircraft and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment including substation equipment, meters, recloser controls, protective relays, battery chargers, and communication equipment to ensure reliable operation of the Cooperative's systems, SCADA, and metering programs.
Perform duties to maintain mobile land-based trunked radio systems. Monitor performance, identify issues, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain microwave radio communication systems, including repair and upgrades of microwave radios, database management, associated circuits, and multiple address radio frequency equipment used for SCADA communications.
Install and maintain battery systems for subsidiary.
Maintain cellular wireless networking devices used in SCADA/AMI communications.
Assist with the installation, programming, calibration, and maintenance of power systems and AMI/revenue metering equipment, including single-phase and polyphase metering.
Accurately document and maintain trouble logs for repair, installation, and removal of mobile two-way radio communication equipment and services.
Perform and oversee electrical testing in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards on high-voltage equipment including breakers, reclosers, relays, and polyphase meters. Document results and report findings appropriately.
Ensure all work practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, safety requirements, and industry standards.

What you'll be responsible for:
* Develops programming code for new and/or existing software enhancements.
* Devises block diagrams, logic procedures and prepares flowcharting.
* Troubleshoots and debugs existing code.
* Tests code and fixes to ensure quality.
* Develops conversion and system implementation plans; implements newly created code and fixes into existing software.
* Provides programming support for various interfaces.
* Keeps customers informed of all enhancements, troubleshooting, and fixes; may assist the customer in determining if and how system enhancements may improve process flow and business function.
* Creates all programming documentation; may include defining the system and functional requirements of the product
* May complete project bids and/or work effort estimates. Interacts with customers to gather system requirements.
* May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you'll need to have:
* Minimum 18 months of experience in any programming language acquired through education and/or professional job experience
* This position entails 50% travel for software implementations, typically involving up to two trips per month. Each trip may last between 5 to 9 days.
* Ability to work extended hours that will include nights and weekends during the install.

* Experience with one or more programming languages: RPGLE, CLLE & SQL.

Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems used in weapons systems.
