You've built and operated high-scale public cloud services and have deep understanding of control plane architecture. You work on most projects and tasks independently and extend technical leadership to development teams. In this role, you will enable development teams by driving design of major service components, working with engineering managers and TPMs, and providing direct guidance to more junior team members. You are able to go from high level system design, writing architectural documentation and driving engineering peer reviews to hands-on prototyping, code reviews and project bootstrapping. The Network OS organization is responsible for designing and delivering the control-plane systems, distributed services, and network intelligence that power OCI's virtual networking, backbone routing, and traffic engineering platforms. **Responsibilities** Responsibilities + Lead the architecture, design, and development of high-performance control-plane and data-plane system features for a datacenter network OS. + Develop and optimize Linux-based applications in C++, using AI-assisted engineering tools for code generation, static analysis and performance optimization + Collaborate with hardware, network, and software teams to define and implement hardware-software interfaces, capability models, and integration requirements for new (merchant and custom ASIC-based) network platforms. + Drive end-to-end execution for technical programs, including conducting design reviews, defining milestones, and ensuring architectural consistency. + Lead investigations into complex production issues using advanced debugging, telemetry analysis, and system monitoring techniques. + Mentor team members, advocate for best practices in distributed systems engineering, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. + Prepare technical documentation and present recommendations to technical leadership. Qualifications + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. + 10+ years of experience in systems software engineering, with a focus on cloud infrastructure, networking, or distributed systems. + Expertise in system design, distributed architectures, high-availability, state replication, and control-plane system development. + Proficiency in C++ and Linux, including strong understanding of OS concepts, IPC, multithreaded programming, and networking internals. + Experience designing and deploying scalable systems leveraging pub/sub frameworks and in-memory data stores. + Familiarity with networking protocols and control-plane/data-plane architectures. + Hands-on experience with monitoring systems, troubleshooting, and data plane programming. + Demonstrated leadership in complex technical initiatives, including the ability to influence design direction across cross-functional teams. + Strong communication skills for technical documentation, collaboration, and leadership engagement. + Deep understanding of Linux internals, programmable networking, or network stack behavior is a strong plus.
