Duties During the course of their careers, Secret Service Police carry out assignments in protection. Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions. Brief Description of Duties: The University Police Communications & Security Specialist 1 is the 911 Emergency Operator and Dispatcher for the University, Hospital, and Long Island State Veterans Home. They act as an intermediary with Suffolk Police and EMS as well as maintains contact with various Fire Departments. Operate as the 911 emergency operator for the University Police Department and coordinate the dispatch desk for the campus. Monitor the central station alarm systems, which include CCTV, intrusion and fire alarms. Assist vendors in testing equipment used in the desk area. Continually view all surveillance monitors and dispatch patrols to investigate any unusual situations. Identify monitor radio communications problems and report the situation to the appropriate supervisor. Notify proper authorities (SCPD radio repair) of any loss of radio system Components. Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Special Notes: This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, shift and pass days varied.
