* The ability to ascend and descend fixed or portable ladders to access roof and other areas in the event of an emergency.
* The ability to be certified and correctly perform CPR, unassisted, as defined by the American Heart Association and operate an automatic external defibrillator.

* The ability to legally operate a passenger automobile or light truck.

LATERAL TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Employed as a full time and active law enforcement officer within the United States.

4. High School Diploma or GED and sixty (60) fully accredited college level credits within five (5) full years of their date of initial law enforcement certification by the State of WI.
5. Must be of high moral character and free of any felony, serious misdemeanor or domestic abuse conviction.
6. The City of Racine has no residency requirements for employees.
7. Successful completion of ALL stages of the hiring process as defined by the City of Racine Police and Fire Commission.

9. Out-of-State certified officers are required to successfully complete the Wisconsin Reciprocity Exam prior to the Police and Fire Commission Interviews.

LATERAL ENTRY COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

2. Vacation time consistent with years of experience (rounded down to a whole number) in the Association contract. Example: An officer with 7 years and 11 months of service lateralling would receive earned vacation pay of an Association member with 7 years' experience (15 days).
3. The field training program may include great flexibility in accordance with the lateral officer's ability to adjust to the new program.
4. Seniority rights begin upon the date of hire at the City.
5. Probationary period will be 12 months.

The minimum physical requirements of Security Officers include:
The ability to transport emergency medical equipment, such as medical bags and oxygen equipment, weighing approximately 50 pounds, from a vehicle to the scene of the emergency and appropriately utilize such equipment at the scene.
The ability to ascend and descend fixed or portable ladders to access roof and other areas in the event of an emergency.
The ability to be certified and correctly perform CPR, unassisted, as defined by the American Heart Association and operate an automatic external defibrillator.
Be able to provide verbal instructions, in an emergency situation in a clear and intelligible manner.
The ability to legally operate a passenger automobile or light truck.

Position Summary-

Position Requirements-

At least three years of previous security experience required. Experience as a uniformed security officer in a leadership role in healthcare security, corporate security, law enforcement, and/or military service preferred.
Currently certified or successfully complete departmental training in Defensive and Arrest Tactics (DAAT) or Defensive Tactics for Security (DTS) within 3 months of hire.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of an experienced Kohler Co. Security Supervisor, and within defined timeframes, a Security Officer I - Second Shift is:
* Responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of personnel, customers, visitors, and assets.
* Responsible for monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of associates, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of the premises.
* Responsible for greeting visitors in person in order to provide assistance or refer to an appropriate company representative.
* Responsible for operating a multi-channel radio with multiple frequencies.
* Responsible for observing and reporting all suspicious activity or policy violations.
* Responsible for managing the access control requirements in a manner that ensures the highest level of security in an efficient manner.
* Responsible for accurately understanding various transmissions, (e.g. telephone, radio, etc.) and transcribe information (e.g. numbers, letters, names and facts) from one source to another in a timely manner.
* Responsible for deterring crime by providing a general security presence.
* Responsible for developing an operating knowledge of Kohler security and fire systems and able to respond appropriately.
* Responsible for assisting with special assignments during periods of emergency or as requested by management.
* Responsible for providing transportation services with company vehicles as needed.
* Responsible for achieving and maintaining required certification in CPR, First Aid, fire extinguisher, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* The minimum physical requirements of Security Officers include:
* The ability to transport emergency medical equipment, such as medical bags and oxygen equipment, weighing approximately 50 pounds, from a vehicle to the scene of the emergency and appropriately utilize equipment at the scene.
* The ability to ascend and descend fixed or portable ladders to access roof and other areas in the event of an emergency.
* The ability to be certified and correctly perform CPR, unassisted, as defined by the American Heart Association and operate an automatic external defibrillator.
* Be able to provide verbal instructions, in an emergency situation in a clear and intelligible manner.
* The ability to legally operate a passenger automobile or light truck.
* The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, as necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* High School education: two-year college degree preferred (Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration or Liberal Arts).
* Law enforcement, industrial security, or Military Police experience preferred.

POSITION PURPOSE:

* Provide for the safe and convenient flow of traffic and pedestrians within the City, investigate traffic accidents and enforces traffic violations, conduct driver intoxication investigations, and promote vehicular and pedestrian safety.
* Conduct preliminary investigations of crimes, protect crime scenes, perform surveillance, and conduct follow-up investigations.
* Enforce laws and ordinances within assigned area of duty, make felony and misdemeanor arrests, and issue appearance notices and traffic citations.
* Complete and submit written reports, forms and other documents as required prior to going off-duty unless otherwise directed by a superior officer.
