The Peer Support Specialist provides peer support services to assigned clients.
Use personal recovery experience as a tool.
Provide family and community education.
Serve as a role model and mentor.

Lead recovery education and activities.

Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.

Must have a valid driver's license in state of employment with a safe driving record.
Successful completion of state-specific Peer Specialist Training and Certification is required to ensure proficiency in peer support roles.

Key responsibilities include:
Review correspondence generated by Command Personnel to ensure that the contents are consistent with Navy policies, procedures, and emerging administrative requirements. This information should contain all pertinent information to avoid delays in routing and approval processing.

What You'll Do
Assist in determination of crew billeting requirements for all PRECOM crews.
Provide basic funding and location research necessary for NAVSEA to determine new equipment and systems operation and maintenance training for ships' company. This may require reaching out to various Navy and non-Navy training personnel to determine tuition, travel cost, and class convening.
Assist Ships Force in proper documentation to request training for the various PEO SHIP program offices.
Support funding requests to support crew travel.
Inventory and issue office and furniture keys.
Manage requirements for telephones assigned to the PRECOM crews.
Submit and track major HII facilities trouble tickets to completion.
Research and maintain NAVSEA and local area military installation points of contact.
Assist in providing basic research from local area commanders as it relates to new construction crews (medical and dental, ATFP live fire events, SCIF access, SCIF readouts, etc.).
Act as a Reviewer in Defense Travel System (DTS) to assist in approving travel orders and travel arrangements for the crew.
Manage crew move-out from the PCU facility to the ship (crew move aboard).
Provide contract research for nucleus and balance crew arrival (HII required support to the crew).
Support research requests for various NAVSEA stakeholders (only those that have a direct link to the crew).
Provide various data necessary for standard reporting of PCU business (weekly task reporting, monthly billeting reporting, etc.).
Maintain an electronic filing system for local CU business.
Support research for relevant information that may be required by the PCU manager or TRIAD for ships' force.

Job Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of technical tasks including but not limited to:
OS installations, hardware diagnostics, and software setup
Structured cabling (including drilling, running, and dressing cables)
Telecom work (punch-downs, demarc extensions, etc.)
Work independently across various environments: retail, medical, restaurant, and corporate
Maintain a high standard of professionalism with clients
Be on call and ready to respond to service requests within your territory
Preferred Skills & Experience
PC and printer troubleshooting experience (a strong plus)
At least 1 year of I.T. or Telecom experience, and one of the following:
A+ Certification
Network+ Certification
OR 5+ years verifiable field experience in I.T./Telecom
Required Equipment & Qualifications
Reliable personal vehicle (Public transportation not accepted)
Valid driver's license
Must have a standard set of tools for basic I.T. and networking tasks (e.g., screwdrivers, cable testers, crimpers).

Summary: Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking a Peer Support Specialist to work with a residential chemical dependency treatment facility in Gulfport MS, focusing on assisting adults with substance use issues. A Peer Support Specialist must be a current or former consumer or a first degree family member of an individual who has received treatment for and self-identifies as a consumer of former mental health consumer. Upon hire, the Peer Support Specialist will attend a training to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist. This position plays a vital role in assisting consumers in the program by modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on prior experience; supporting consumers in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services; and helping them to monitor their progress.
For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt. Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our eighteen county service area includes Amite, Franklin, Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, Wayne Counties.
Requirements: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required Must be a current DMH Certified Peer Support Specialist Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record Reliable transportation needed to provide services in the community Knowledge of how to establish and sustain self-help (mutual support) and educational groups by soliciting input from the mental health consumers on their strengths and interests. Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of mental illness and the ability to assist the client to address symptoms using strategies such as positive self-talk. Must have demonstrated a minimum of six (6) months, preferably twelve (12) months, in self-directed recovery.
Responsibilities: Advocates for consumers by providing consumer information in terms that consumers and families can understand through various formal and informal settings. Assists with targeted outreach, medication monitoring, system navigation, and advocacy. Engages families and consumers to help them/loved ones to be successful and meet their goals. Functions as a role model to peers by exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills. Provides a range of structured activities that are provided face to face to assist individuals in their recovery/resiliency process. These activities will support the goals of the individual's documented individual Service Plan and/or Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).
