How It Works…
After a series of interviews, the 2026 cohort will be selected. Then, starting in July 2026 and running through September 2026, the majority of your learning experience is delivered in Crum & Forster's state-of-the-art corporate headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey (only a one-hour ride to New York City). You will learn from insurance leaders while rotating through the various business segments and departments of Crum & Forster. Depending upon available space and opportunities, the program may also include brief learning rotations in other offices around the country (housing and flights included).
What you will do for C&F:
Participate in a mix of classroom learning, online courses and real-time, practical on the job training with experts from across the country.
Build knowledge of the Insurance Industry and Surplus and Specialty lines.
Develop strong working relationships with all levels of colleagues including senior leadership.

What you will bring to C&F:
Recent graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree.

As a Surety Underwriting Trainee, you will have access to professional skills development, productivity courses and much more. Primarily responsible for learning underwriting principles and standards in a CNA Surety branch office. Analyzes, evaluates, and refers new and existing business to a more senior level underwriter within the branch office. During the program our curriculum provides:
* Reviews bond applications and financial documentation to determine if the applicant is an acceptable risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards. Determines the need for additional evidence of financial standing and appropriate strategy.
* Instructor-led training, testing, self-study courses, web-based training and practical application with guidance through a formal mentoring program.
* Recommends risks after complete analysis and consideration of applicant documentation, business factors and competitive situations.
* Prepares written communications on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations.
* May assist in marketing products and services through agencies or through the brokerage community. Develops and maintains positive agency and/or broker relationships to ensure positive outcomes. May travel approximately 1 to 1 ½ days a week to agent locations shadowing more senior underwriters prospecting business.
* Performs other essential duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
* BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar program. Minor in Marketing or Communication Studies a plus.

As a STEM Student Trainee (SST), you will gain hands-on experience, network with company leaders, and explore different areas of Caterpillar. Through teamwork and business interactions, you will sharpen your skills, present ideas, and track progress - while preparing for an exciting future in STEM.
What You Will Do
You will join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with Caterpillar employees at all levels. The program is a 40-hour-per-week assignment lasting 8 weeks.
You can focus on building technical abilities in roles including (but not limited to):
* Product Design: Engineer components & systems for Caterpillar products to meet our customers' needs. Deliver solutions by leading collaboration with cross functional teams throughout our value chain starting from initial concept through production.
* Simulation/Performance Analysis: CFD - Computational Fluid Dynamics (ANSYS), FEA - Finite Element Analysis, 3D modelling, root cause investigation; system/subsystem/component design optimization, structural dynamics, development and optimization of Engine, Aftertreatment, Battery, Fuel Cell, Powertrain, and/or Machine System performance.
* Test/Validation/Hands on: Apply strong mechanical engineering understanding in a test/validation (hands-on) environment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with others for optimal results.
* Controls Development: Develop/Implement control system algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink for various control systems including but not limited to engine controllers, machine implement controllers as well as powertrain controllers. Will be responsible for understanding the feature requirement, implementing it as well as testing it prior to a production roll out.
* Electronic Components: Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, help design Printed Circuit Board layouts as well as perform digital/analog/power circuit analysis and testing. Other duties may include working with suppliers, testing the controllers/components in various environments, ensuring that FMEA's [Failure Mode and Effects Analysis] are conducted and documented to meet stringent Caterpillar quality requirements.
* Embedded Software Development: Develop embedded software in C, C# and/or C++ for various electronic control modules. Some examples of embedded software development applications include Datalink communications, Inputs and Outputs [Sensors and actuators], speed calculation, injection/spark timing, memory management, CPU optimization, multi core design and implementation etc. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python/Visual Basic for automation.
* Software Validation/Verification for Electronic Systems: Verify functionality of a feature or control system algorithm on a HIL [Hardware in the Loop] simulator bench or a SIL [Software in the loop] system. Understand requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller / control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
* Engineering Data Analytics: Leverage ability to write and understand computer code, especially Python; apply knowledge of data analytics/data science, machine learning concepts/tools, and engineering and statistics fundamentals.
* Process Engineering: Apply mechanical, manufacturing, systems and/or industrial engineering knowledge to analyze and optimize an engineering process. Will have the opportunity to leverage problem-solving and communication skills.

The Credit Trainee program is designed to accelerate your career in credit by teaching you the basics. We will provide mentoring, coaching and on the job learning with a strong commitment by our credit leadership team to be there for you every step of the way!
This is an 8-12 month program where the associate is active in the operation of the business. This includes time in the warehouse, on the sales counter, riding with delivery drivers, shadowing operations, visiting and/or leading meetings with customer, and learning the technical aspect of the extension of trade credit.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills including face-to-face conversations, conversations by phone, and presenting in front of groups.

**Career Path:**

The Credit Manager will own a portfolio of accounts with millions in account receivable, where they will be responsible for the extension of credit and collection of the A/R. They will be expected to be engaged in the business, build relationships with customers and sales, visit customers on an ongoing basis, and grow business while achieving an acceptable return on receivables investment. The Credit Manager will report to the Area Credit Manager.
A successful and highly functioning Credit Manager will move forward into the Area Credit Manager role, where A/R responsibilities will increase and where there is an opportunity to manage people.
**Location/Relocation:**
Ferguson is a nationwide company. Your initial training location will be based in Conyers, GA for the first 8-12 months. **You must be open to relocation after your training program.** The ability to be open to living in a new location and being adventurous is required! **What You Will Do**

You can focus on building technical abilities in roles including (but not limited to):

+ **Test/Validation/Hands on:** Apply strong mechanical engineering understanding in a test/validation (hands-on) environment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with others for optimal results.
+ **Controls Development:** Develop/Implement control system algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink for various control systems including but not limited to engine controllers, machine implement controllers as well as powertrain controllers. Will be responsible for understanding the feature requirement, implementing it as well as testing it prior to a production roll out.
+ **Electronic Components:** Will be responsible for designing and testing various electronic control modules as well as various electronic components. Will work with various internal Caterpillar clients to understand controller/component requirements, help design Printed Circuit Board layouts as well as perform digital/analog/power circuit analysis and testing. Other duties may include working with suppliers, testing the controllers/components in various environments, ensuring that FMEA's [Failure Mode and Effects Analysis] are conducted and documented to meet stringent Caterpillar quality requirements.
+ **Embedded Software Development:** Develop embedded software in C, C# and/or C++ for various electronic control modules. Some examples of embedded software development applications include Datalink communications, Inputs and Outputs [Sensors and actuators], speed calculation, injection/spark timing, memory management, CPU optimization, multi core design and implementation etc. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python/Visual Basic for automation.
+ **Software Validation/Verification for Electronic Systems:** Verify functionality of a feature or control system algorithm on a HIL [Hardware in the Loop] simulator bench or a SIL [Software in the loop] system. Understand requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller / control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
+ **Engineering Data Analytics:** Leverage ability to write and understand computer code, especially Python; apply knowledge of data analytics/data science, machine learning concepts/tools, and engineering and statistics fundamentals.
+ **Process Engineering:** Apply mechanical, manufacturing, systems and/or industrial engineering knowledge to analyze and optimize an engineering process. Will have the opportunity to leverage problem-solving and communication skills.

Summary of Position
