What agents get paid the most?

The agents that get paid the most are successful sports agents. Though, the national average for all sports agents is just $34,469 annually.

Scott Boras is the highest paid sports agent in the world, according to Forbes. He has $2B in contracts, mostly in baseball, and earns over $100M a year in commission alone.

There are many different types of agents, with a great deal of pay variation among them. Examples of agents who consistently yield high annual salaries are mercantile agents, specifically brokers and federal government special agents.

Brokers yield average annual salaries of $97,073, which is $46.67 an hour. Top earning brokers can make in the low six-figures, while entry-level pay starts around $50,000 annually. The highest paying industries for brokers are insurance, real estate, and finance.

Brokers make the most in the following states:

  • Nevada: $116,633

  • Rhode Island: $108,478

  • New Mexico: $108,153

Federal government special agents yield some of the highest average annual salaries of all agents, making $67,242 a year, on average.
