Job Summary / General Purpose of Job
The Division Director of HumanResources serves as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team of the ABA. Leading a team of humanresources professionals the Division Director of HumanResources is responsible for developing and delivering the human capital strategy for the American Bar Association across all locations. This role requires the ability to properly diagnose organizational needs, persuade and influence business leaders, and effectively communicate and lead the development of unit solutions that support the organization, and are compliant with internal governance practices and established policies. The Division Director of HumanResources is a member of the Ethics Office, Thrift (retirement contribution) Committee, and the Business Continuity Team.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)
As a strategic human capital advisor, contribute to the development and stewardship of an organizational culture, that reflects the ABA's mission and values, while supporting its standard for quality, efficiency, integrity, innovation, and accountability.
The Division Director of HumanResources leads a team of HumanResources professionals and is responsible for directing all aspects of the organization's humanresources policies, objectives, and processes, including:
Talent Acquisition - sourcing, hiring, and on-boarding high quality talent.
Benefits - development, maintenance and administration of comprehensive suite of employee benefit programs in a cost-effective manner.
Compensation: maintenance and development of salary structure(s), incentive and recognition programs, job descriptions, and organizational design.
Employee Engagement, Training, and Development- continual development of training curriculum(s) that meet the evolving needs of the organization, and management and development of employee performance calibrations and reviews.
HR Technology and Analytics - Responsible for administration and continuous improvement of HR systems to help the organization increase efficiency and effectiveness of processes in a cost-effective manner.
Employee Relations - Provides counsel to senior leadership team on personnel matters, and oversees sensitive, confidential investigations, as required.
Work closely with General Counsel to ensure employment policies and practices are compliant will all legal requirements.
Develop and administer the department budget and oversee the selection and management of HR vendors in accordance with ABA policies.
Performs other related duties as required.

Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university.

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief HR Officer to lead our HR department and oversee all aspects of humanresources practices and processes. 2. Serving as a law enforcement resource to school administration.
3. Delivering lectures and providing information on law, police duties, and other related topics which
support school curriculum.
4. Acting as a liaison resource to a principal and/or school administrator in investigating criminal law
matters occurring in the school or on school property.
5. Counseling students in special situations, such as students suspected of engaging in criminal

students and adults from diverse social and economic backgrounds as well as teachers,
administrators and staff.
18. Maintaining the confidentiality of school records as required by federal and state law as well as
the policies and procedures of the school district.
19. Attending required trainings; maintaining currency with school safety strategies, knowledge and
best practices.
20. Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Safety and Security Services or school
administrators.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be a sworn law enforcement officer (employed/reserve/special deputy or school-police
under Indiana law)
Complete basic law-enforcement training as per IC 5-2-1-9 (through ILEA)
40+ hours of SRO-specific training (via Indiana LETB, NASRO, or approved training) within
180 days-or 365 days for smaller schools.
Carry out duties like arrest, search, emergency planning, and student support-usually defined
in an MOU with the school
Firearm authorization is allowed, but only through proper law enforcement appointment-not
through retail security licensing.
All candidates must:
1. Be at least twenty-one years of age and be a high school graduate or possess equivalency
(college degree preferred).
2. Not have been convicted of, or pleaded guilty to, any felony charge or to any violation of any
federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to use of force, violence, theft, dishonesty,
gambling, liquor or controlled substances.
3. Not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the
armed forces of the United States.
4. Have his/her fingerprints on file with the Indiana State Police.
5. Have good moral character as determined through investigation conducted by the school system.
6. Have passed a physical examination (at the candidate's own expense) by a licensed physician.
7. Possess a valid Indiana Operators license as issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for the
State of Indiana.
8. Ability to obtain an Indiana School Safety Specialist certification within twelve months of
employment.
