MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. Certified MAPP-TIPS trainer. Must be familiar with current clinical research and practice. Experience: Must have at least three (3) years experience working with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed youths and their families. Some prior experience with promotional work preferred. Teaching Family Model of Care experience preferred. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid North Carolina driver's license is required and individual must be insurable by BGHNC carrier. While regular work schedule is during business week, position may require some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Individual in this position must provide 24-hour accessibility, including weekends and holidays. Must be willing to provide consultation and support for Foster Care Social Worker Staff. Must be able to demonstrate all the technical and program skills required of a Foster Care Social Worker Staff as well as those skills required of a foster parent. Teaching TIPS - MAPP required throughout the year. Ability to build relationships with other professionals and foster families. Advanced technical writing skills required. Advanced treatment planning and behavior analysis skills required. SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, implement and supervise recruitment campaign. Maintain positive relations with representatives of the press and media. Work to promote these positive relations and encourage publication of positive press of the Program. Hold regularly scheduled conferences with the Foster Care Licensing Social Worker Supervisor for the purpose of planning and evaluating current programs and practices. Assist with all facets of foster parent recruitment and selection. Assist with advertising, screening, interviewing and final selection. Supervise and coordinate all facets of foster parent training (pre-service, in-service, advanced training programs, etc.) for both the TIPPS & MAPP classes and the Teaching Family Model of Care. Model appropriate moral, ethical, professional values for youths, colleagues and community-at-large. Abide by the Standards of Ethical Conduct of NCARCCFS. Adhere to standards set forth by NCDSS on foster home licensing. Coordinate in-service training for your area. The training has to meet the needs of the foster parents and foster children. Complete quarterly visits with all licensed foster parents. Complete re-licensing packets for state approval. Keep all foster parent files updated to meet state and COA standards. Perform other related duties as assigned by the FCLWS Supervisor, Chief of Community-based Services Officer, and/or CEO. WORKING CONDITIONS Direct supervision of residents who are emotionally troubled/challenged. May require physical interventions (restraints), mental creativity, and active participation in sports, educational, social and other physical activities. In this job, you will assists families in crisis through DCFS programs including: Family Habilitation Services, Visitation and Housing. Family Service Specialists provide services that help families comply with court-ordered program participation and work through difficult situations. Training is provided through the office and on-the-job. Family Service Specialist Benefits: * Pay is $17/HR * DAILY PAY available for select positions! * Flexible schedule - full time and part time available * Direct deposit * Reimbursement for mileage $.70/mile FSS Duties: * Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home. * Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation. Travel can be extensive. * Work directly with families in the home, teaching and demonstrating homemaking skills, parenting skills, anger management, utilizing effective resources * Supervised visitation / Unsupervised visitation. Observe all interaction between parents and children during visits parent and redirect if needed * Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records * Submit written client progress reports on a monthly basis: * Scheduled dates and units of service * Specific goals/issues to be addressed for each date of service * Documentation as to whether each appointment was successful or missed * Reports of progress for each identified goal * Recommendations for future service * Report all child abuse and neglect * Attend all mandated trainings * For families or emancipated foster children in the housing program the FSS locates housing, jobs and other community supports for living independently. FSS Requirements & Competencies: * High school diploma or GED is required * Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience is required * Must be at least 21 years of age * Experience in social work, child care, or working with families is preferred * Must have a dependable automobile, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance * Must pass required background checks Eligible employees and their dependents will be offered medical, hospitalization, vision, and dental benefits through the employer sponsored minimum essential plan. Employees are also eligible to enroll in employer sponsored retirement plan after 6 months of service (21 years of age). Accrued paid time off (up to 40 hours per year, based on hours worked). All DCFS employees, who average a minimum of 25 hours over a three-month period, are eligible for holiday pay benefits.
