Essential Functions: Position is a Bilingual Specialist that serves as a language and literacy resource for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, staff, and families, supporting the development of both American Sign Language (ASL) and English. This role includes direct student support, teacher collaboration, family engagement, and staff training to ensure a bilingual, bicultural educational environment that promotes academic success and cultural identity. Duties and responsibilities include: Provide direct support to students in developing ASL and English proficiency through individual or small-group instruction, co-teaching, and classroom integration. Observe and collaborate with teachers to integrate bilingual strategies into instruction across content areas. Assess students' ASL and English skills, interpret assessment data, and assist in developing individualized language plans. Provide resources, modeling, and training for staff on bilingual and bicultural best practices. Support family engagement by offering bilingual workshops, resources, and communication strategies for home use.
