Communicates directly with physicians, clinical leaders, senior managers, other departmental personnel, patients and their families.
Monitors metrics included quality, patient experience, employee engagement, staff retention, and throughput.
Implements and monitors department budget, expenses, and is fiscally responsible for unit.
Complies with applicable regulatory, licensure and accrediting standards where applicable (The Joint Commission, CLIA, COLA, OSHA, AAAHC, etc).
What We Require:
Education: Graduate of professional nursing school. BSN at CMC due to Magnet designation
For outlying community hospitals, BSN is preferred or an ADN in conjunction with a related master's degree
Experience: Minimum of 3 years leadership experience is required; experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting and work competency skills. Promotes a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health must possess ability to appropriately handle/restrain patients who may be disruptive and/or physically violent.

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $224,000.00

The Trauma Program Director (TPD) is responsible for assuring all Trauma Center verification standards are met as required by the Virginia Department of Health and the Office of Emergency Services. Survey Readiness:
Provides education and preparation of the hospital staff regarding American College of Surgeons (ACS) guidelines for ACS verification and re-verification utilizing the most recent edition of the ACS Guidebook, Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.
Clinical activities:
Coordinates management across the continuum of trauma care, which includes the planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care of in-hospital patients, and serving as a resource for clinical practice.
Education responsibilities
: Provide for intrafacility and regional professional staff development, participate in case review, implement practice guidelines, and direct community trauma education and prevention programs. Organizes and participates in conferences related to health care of the trauma patient.
Performance improvement
: Monitor clinical processes and outcomes and system issues related to the quality of care provided: develop quality filters, audits, and case reviews; identify trends and sentinel events; and help outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
Administration:
Manage, as appropriate, the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the trauma program. Serve as a liaison to administration, and represent the trauma program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care.
Supervision of the trauma registry:

Stabilize the complex network of the many disciplines that work in concert to provide high-quality care. Serve as an internal resource for staff in all departments, and act as a liaison for EMS agencies.
Research
: Have an active involvement in research projects and the analysis and distribution of findings. Facilitate protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis.
Community and national involvement in trauma care systems:
Participate in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state, or national level.
Management:
Conducts regular meetings with direct reports to set expectations consistent with the goals of the organization and the department. Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center has served the youth and adults of Central and Southside Virginia since 1940. Lives have been enriched through programs, friendships, and closeness to nature. The center serves as a 4-H camp during the summer, providing an education in outdoor living for over 2,000 youth and adults from 17 counties and 2 cities in Central Virginia each summer. Other programming focuses on natural resource education, outdoor adventure, shooting education and youth leadership development.

The program works with 14 school districts to improve academic achievement, increase high school graduation and college enrollment rates, and prepare students for success in postsecondary education through mentoring, academic support, STEM initiatives, and family engagement.
The GEAR UP Assistant Director provides coordination and leadership support for the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) Longwood initiative. Under the supervision of the ITTIP Director (GEAR UP Program Director), this position oversees daily program operations, ensures alignment with federal grant goals, and maintains strong relationships with 14 participating school divisions. The Assistant Director supervises the Partnership Liaison and collaborates with school and community partners to expand college and career readiness opportunities for students in rural and low-income communities.
This position would require some travel to partnering school divisions, typically not overnight. This position is eligible for a flexible telework work schedule but will require time on Longwood campus to a varying degree each month, depending on current projects.
