Securatex company history timeline

1982

Joseph (Joe) N. DuCanto, J.D. founded Securatex in 1982 as an Illinois-based private detective agency, which soon evolved into a broad-based security company.

1983

By 1983, he had sold his interest in the company.

1985

While parts of Securitas were bought up by Group 4, the largest part was taken over by Swedish investment firm Investment AB Latour in 1985.

1987

Here she was recognized as the 1987 Grand Award Winner for outstanding volunteer contributions to her community.

1988

The newly slimmed down company had sales of less than SKr 1 billion as its acquisition drive began in 1988.

In 1988, the company was merged into California Plant Protection; the larger company kept the famous Pinkerton's name.

1989

Not all of the company's expansion came from acquisition: in 1989, the company also launched its own operations in Hungary.

1991

By 1991, the company's sales had topped SKr 3 billion.

The company had also managed to combine its distribution and communications interests when the company joined a partnership to develop the Datatrak vehicle tracking system, which the company acquired in 1991.

1993

The company moved into Finland in 1993, acquiring security operations in that country.

1993: Securicor buys Scottish Express and extends parcel deliveries.

1997

Securitas bundled its consumer-oriented businesses into a new subsidiary, Securitas Direct, overseeing the company's international individual home and small business alarm systems operations, in 1997.

In 1997, Securicor added prison management to its list of activities when it acquired the contract to design and manage the high-tech Parc prison.

1999

In 1999, Borg Warner itself changed its name, to Burns International.

1999: Securitas acquires Pinkerton's Inc. for $384 million, thus gaining a major share of the United States market.

In 1999, the company sold off half of its distribution and logistics business, placing it into a 50-50 joint venture with Deutsche Post, which was expanding its Euro Express network.

2000

Then, in December 2000, the company bought Argenbright Security Inc.

2001

In 2001, Patricia was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer with direct responsibility for the overall performance of company operations.

2002

CEO John Wiggs, who had guided the company through much of the previous decade, announced his retirement for 2002.

2003

In 2003, Patricia was named Chief Executive Officer/President.

2018

Per Mar was a 2018 recipient of the Honeywell Community Service award for our efforts in sponsoring and participating in the Hand-in-Hand Chili Cook Off.
