Nursing Teaching Assistant/Adjunct Clinical Faculty
The Undergraduate Nursing Teaching Assistant/Adjunct Clinical facilitates student centered learning. Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Communicate nursing practice objectives for specified areas with students; identify potential learning opportunities for the student in the nursing practice area; assign clients according to learning level, agency protocol and nursing practice objectives and course policy; supervise students in the nursing practice area
Assess student preparation to ensure safe nursing practice; identify individual student learning needs; facilitate laboratory experience as appropriate
Assiststudent to integrate theoretical concepts into nursing practice
Evaluate student nursing practice written work; evaluate skill competencies of students per established evaluation tool; assist with and evaluate skill acquisition by the student; conduct individual evaluation conferences with students at midterm, end of semester, and as needed; provide written feedback to students on their performance; notify mentor or course coordinator of any student concerns in a timely manner
Foster interpersonal relationships with assigned unit; Nursing Practice site orientation is required; communicate student expectations with facility; evaluate nursing practice site for effectiveness; provide a written evaluation of the practice area at the end of the academic year which addresses strengths and areas of concern
Foster and emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration; encourage student to become self-directed
Foster and model baccalaureate professional nursing roles such as: delegation, clinical decision-making, therapeutic communication, leadership, collaboration, professionalism
Implement, evaluate and provide information for update of the nursing practice tool
Initiate periodic ongoing communication with assigned mentor or course coordinator; attend monthly scheduled course meetings and end of course evaluation meeting.
Participate in activities that facilitate maintaining the faculty members own nursing competence and professional expertise in the area of teaching responsibility
Schedule required nursing practice hours per rotation needs with course coordinator: all nursing practice hours are mandatory; anticipated absences by faculty needs approval of course coordinator with plans for rescheduling nursing practice hours; unanticipated absences by faculty must be rescheduled ASAP with approval of course Coordinator; reschedule make-up experiences for students on an individual basis as needed with approval of course coordinator
Lab Supervision:
Communicate course and lab objectives with students; Identify potential learning opportunities for the student; Assess student preparation to ensure safe nursing practice; Identify individual student learning needs; Facilitate laboratory experience as appropriate

Education Qualifications:
Actively engaged in graduate nursing studies to complete the degree within 4 years
Current unencumbered license in the State of North Dakota

* The assistant will set an appropriate schedule for themselves, so they are not interfering with their classes, but also to be of most benefit to the usefulness of the EMS lab. The assistant will fill out a bi-weekly calendar so faculty know when the assistant will be there. If there is to be any absences in those two weeks, the assistant should notify the program director 24 hours prior. The program director will also notify the assistant of upcoming special activities, such as tour groups, that they may desire the assistant to help with, within 1 week of that activity.
* Once adequately instructed on tasks, they should take initiative each day they come in to work on completion of those tasks or beginning the next one.
* They will do lab preparations for student labs, as well as cleanup for those labs sometimes so they must maintain adequate infection control practices.
* On days there are tour groups, or the like, the assistant will be asked if they are available to come with and provide any assistance deemed needed. If they agree to come to any of those events, they should be on time and motivated to provide high quality results/experiences.
* They will take regular account of stocked equipment and notify faculty if anything becomes low so it can be ordered in a timely fashion.
* When working on any documents or copying, attention to detail is important due to the nature of the documents they may be assisting with.
* Takes initiative if they see any projects that may need attention, by pointing them out to faculty and asking if they can work on that project. This includes any cleaning, sorting, organization, etc.
* Flexibility, as it is in the EMS job field, is important and so is multitasking. The assistant must be ready to take on new and varying projects that may arise. They must also be able to multitask, as a set of projects may be given.
* Maintains a positive attitude and effective communication. Questions should be asked if there is uncertainty.

SUMMARY OF POSITION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The main responsibility of this position will be to work closely with our marketing team to create or coordinate marketing materials for a variety of departments. This includes design, illustration, print, and photography. The Intern must be proficient on a Mac platform and have basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
DUTIES:
* Work closely with the graphic design specialist to create media used for internal messaging and promotions.
* Assist the Public Affairs team with setting up for events.
* Maintains organization of universal office space.
* Maintains good public relations while working with faculty, staff and customers.
* Supports innovation, creativity and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and as a whole for the college.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
* Knowledge of publication design principles, graphic design principles, and working knowledge of related development tools, including but not limited to: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat).
* Strong visual sense, with originality and creative flair.
* Working knowledge of - Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects.
* Ability to work independently and handle interruptions.
* Ability to lift to 50 pounds (essential function).
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with diverse personalities.
Preferred:
* Experience working on design-focused projects.
* Experience working in higher education.
