Major Responsibilities and Duties: * Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual PK EL students. * Works with individual PK EL students or small groups of PK EL students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the PK Bilingual teacher. * Assist the PK Bilingual teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual EL students, their needs, interests, and abilities. * Operates and cares for equipment used in the PK Bilingual classroom for instructional purposes. * Helps PK EL students master or instructional assigned by the PK Bilingual teacher. * Distributes and collects workbooks, paper, and other materials for PK Bilingual instruction. * Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the PK Bilingual teacher. * Assists with the supervision of PK EL students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. * Keeps bulletin boards and other PK Bilingual classroom learning displays up to date. * Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading out loud, and storytelling in the PK Bilingual classroom. * Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with PK EL students. * Assists PK EL students in library or media center. * Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make up work, as assigned by the PK Bilingual teacher. * Helps PK EL students with their clothing. * Assists with lunch, snack and clean up routines of Pre-K Bilingual classrooms. * Alerts the Bilingual teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student. * Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the PK Bilingual teacher. * Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. * Participates in all service-training programs, as assigned. * Performs other duties as assigned in regards to the Pre-K Bilingual classrooms. * Follow all Work from Home Protocols when working remotely. Option 3 Be a Recent Brownsville Independent School District High School Graduate student 18 years of age or older; and have a final grade of 70 or better in two or more education and training courses specified in Chapter 130, Subchapter E, of this title (relating to Education and Training) for three or more credits verified in writing by the superintendent of the district where the credits were earned. The education and training courses must include either. * Instructional Practices, as described in §130.164 of this title (relating to Instructional Practices (Two Credits), Adopted 2015); or * Practicum in Education and Training, as described in §130.165 of this title (relating to Practicum in Education and Training (Two Credits), Adopted 2015) and Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment- * Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or * Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists teachers on the selection and scheduling of materials for classroom instruction. Assists in providing instruction to students and teachers in locating and using materials and equipment, operating copiers, and in using computer programs, compact discs, or on-line data bases. Encourages student use of materials to satisfy class assignments. Functions as a member of the teaching team by accepting one-on-one or small group teaching responsibilities in students' use of the library materials. Instructs the students and teachers on the use of audio-visual and other apparatuses (micro-film, projectors, etc.). Assists in providing user guidance in reading, listening, and viewing. Assists in planning activities to stimulate student and teacher use of library materials and facilities. Assists the librarian in planning with administrators, teachers and students, individually and in groups, for effective use of library materials and facilities. Uses a computerized circulation/catalog system for data entry/deletion of patron and resources files. Checks in/out resources; assists with the circulation, return, and book desk and collects fines, as assigned. Maintains bulletin boards and other library displays. Changes bulletin boards often, and puts up current event posters on a monthly basis. Monitors attendance in the library and keeps daily attendance records. Prepares materials to be placed on reserve at teacher's request and maintains the reserve collection. Collects and maintains records of student fines and prepares parent notifications as needed. Assists in shelving books and materials and stores equipment as it is returned. Assists with inventory and "weeding" procedures. Assists librarian in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports. Works with students to maintain an orderly atmosphere. Maintains an attractive library appearance. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees. Performs any other duties assigned.
