Tutor individuals or small groups of children utilizing materials and approaches as designed by the classroom teacher. 5. Assist teacher with planning and evaluating functions as designed by the teacher. 6. Assist in diagnosing learning difficulties and report learning problems to the teacher. 7. Implement behavior support plan and monitor student progress to ensure students are following discipline polices and procedures as directed by the supervising teacher. 8. Document and report relevant information regarding student progress, behavioral changes, or physical needs to the teacher as required. 9. Attend and participate in staff meetings, workshops and in-service programs. 10. Assist in preparation of materials needed for instruction,including but not limited to flash cards, filmstrips, learning centers and games. 11. Prepare materials for extra study and review. 12. Perform clerical duties, including but not limited to copying,filing, computer input and bulletin boards. 13. Assist children with self-help activities such as feeding, toileting and dressing as needed. 14. Collaborate and provide support for students in regular education classrooms. 15. Provide supervision and continue classroom activities in the brief absence of the teacher. 16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and the Learning Support Teacher. SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Escort students from the cafeteria to the playground for recess;supervise students while on the playground, ensuring their safety. 2. Distribute lunch tickets to students as needed; escort students to the cafeteria and supervise students in the cafeteria during lunch period. 3. Escort students from the cafeteria to their encore classes and from classes to the playground. 4. Monitor students as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma required Associates Degree preferred Two (2) years experience with children/students preferred Submission of required clearances Must be “Highly Qualified” per the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. (Pottsgrove will assist hired employees with this requirement.)
