The Collaborative School of the Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community. The Collaborative School of the Arts at Proctors is seeking an experienced costume designer for the summer of 2026 Broadway Camp mainstage musical production. Broadway Camp consists of classes, workshops and rehearsal and will be performed with a student orchestra, cast and crew of 40 high school students from throughout the Capital Region. Previous shows have been ALL SHOOK UP , PIPPIN, AIDA, LES MISERABLES, RENT and INTO THE WOODS, THE PROM, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, AND URINETOWN. Broadway Camp is a professional training program which ends with a full production performed on Proctors Mainstage. The company is made up of students in acting, production and orchestra from July 6 th to August 1 st , Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm, plus show calls. All students are between the ages of 14-19. The program is led by a team of theatre professionals with the support of Proctors and Capital Repertory Theatre staff. All creative and production staff share the responsibility of working with students, providing training in their area of expertise as they work collaboratively on the show. RESPONSIBILITIES: Source and select appropriate costumes from stock (the REP - primary source coordinated via Costume Designer at the REP). Any rental, retail merchants, student actor wardrobes, thrift shops or other resources should be coordinated for the production in consultation with and under the supervision of the director. Create costume plot for all pieces worn by each performer, include photos when available. Attend and oversee all fittings Prepare all actor costume tracks and quick changes and instruct all actors and production students in execution. Oversee any costume/wardrobe attendant or student intern and coordinate/lead the alterations or modifications of costumes and costume accessories on-site. Train students in the execution of the wardrobe crew including proper care, organization and cleaning of the costumes. Attend performances to maintain continuity, manage wardrobe malfunctions, and strike. Following shows, return any borrowed costumes to original condition and wash or dry clean as needed prior to return. Any costumes rented will be returned to the Rental company if used. Those bought or built for the production, shall be the property of the Producer. Communicate with Director and not incur purchases/rental/costs exceeding budget without the prior consent. All cash expenditures will be accounted for to the Producer in the form of itemized, dated receipts verifying such purchases, submitted to the Producer no later than thirty (30) days after the official opening of the production. CONTRACT PERIOD: Monthly pre-production meetings January - May, 2026 via video conference Costume plot deadline April 2026 Must be available from July 6 to August 1, Monday - Friday, during rehearsals as agreed upon with Director between 9am-5pm. Shows on July 31 and August 1 (Friday at 7 pm, and Saturday at 2 pm and 7 pm).
