Position Summary:
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a FieldServiceTechnician to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional service and support for our analytical instrumentation. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of service-related functions, including the repair, maintenance, and performance verification of assigned products, including demo equipment and instruments returned from customers.
JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide daily repair and maintenance support for assigned products, including installations.
Conduct in-house bench repairs and onsite customer repairs as needed while primarily handling fieldservice calls with limited supervision.
Travel within the local region (including day and overnight trips) to support customer needs.
Offer technical support via phone to customers and field personnel regarding repairs, maintenance and installations.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
At least one year of experience in repairing analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, LCMS, AA, or similar instruments.
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of these technologies.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
Willingness to travel

Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums.
The starting salary range for this role is $61,000 to $63,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. As a non-exempt position, you will be eligible for overtime and double time pay, as outlined in our employee handbook. Additional variable compensation includes an incentive plan (10% of base salary) based on company and service performance, paid semi-annually in April and October. A year-end discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance.
This position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use), company laptop, and a company-paid cell phone, which remains company property but can be used for personal purposes.

Call volume is variable but is usually 2-5 calls per day
You will complete certifications from Dell and Lenovo as part of your onboarding. Certifications are online and free to you.
You must have a reliable form of transportation and a valid driver's license to run these calls. You will be visiting multiple work sites throughout your day.
You must have access to a computer and the Internet to log onto your portal each day.
You must be available to log into your tech portal each morning you are working by 9 am to code your calls and map out your route for the day.
The manufacturer has completed troubleshooting and shipped a part prior to your ticket being issued to you.
You will confirm service times with the customer in your tech portal. Services will be completed at the customer site (residential and commercial)
You will pick up parts daily from the assigned Fed Ex or UPS store for your territory before going onsite. Once all calls are completed for the day drop off the old parts with the pre-paid label that is provided.

Responsibilities:
* Install, commission, and start up positive displacement (PD) blower packages, vacuum/pressure systems, and associated rotating equipment per OEM specifications and site requirements.
* Configure, program, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters (parameter setup, PID loops, accel/decel profiles, motor protection, fieldbus/communication interfaces such as Modbus/TCP, EtherNet/IP).
* Diagnose and repair electrical controls including relays, contactors, motor starters, overloads, interlocks, safety circuits, and control transformers.
* Perform control panel wiring and field terminations (24 VDC control, 120/480 VAC power, grounding/bonding, signal wiring, shielded cable practices); read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
* Install and integrate instrumentation (pressure, temperature, vibration, flow, differential pressure transmitters, proximity sensors, limit switches) and calibrate as required.
* Execute mechanical service tasks (coupling alignment-laser or dial, belt tensioning, blower timing, bearing replacement, seal changes, lubrication, fastener torque verification).
* Conduct vibration and performance checks; identify root cause of abnormal noise, heat, vibration, or amperage draw (airflow restrictions, leaks, misalignment, cavitation, resonance).
* Troubleshoot system issues end-to-end across electrical, mechanical, and controls, including motor diagnostics (insulation resistance, megger testing, continuity), VFD/motor matching, and load-related faults.

POSITION SUMMARY
Our FieldServiceTechnicians apply their technical knowledge and experience to solve problems across a diverse customer base. You will support customers in banking, education, logistics, manufacturing, medical, retail, and other industries. As a Secur-Serv Technician you will install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and make repairs to a wide range of hardware including printers, cash recyclers, document finishing equipment, office equipment, servers, PCs, and data communications equipment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Travels to customer locations via company vehicle to diagnose, repair, and/or replace computer hardware in accordance with service agreements.
Manages preventative maintenance schedule in a timely and efficient manner.
Assists other territories and technicians as needed which may include travel to other metropolitan areas.
Takes ownership of meeting customers' business needs.
Coordinates activities and seeks assistance from technical support when appropriate.
Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, sales, technical support, call center, and customer via voicemail, use of wireless call processing system, or in-person communication.
Manages parts inventory in accordance with established guidelines.
Submits required paperwork in a timely, efficient, and complete manner.
May be asked to train new technicians in an on-the-job manner.
REQUIREMENTS
Two or more years related experience and/or training.
Secur-Serv provides training at the office in Omaha, NE, along with, access to a database of manuals and depot support personnel to call if additional support is needed.
Able to successfully attend training in Headquarters and/or outside schools to keep abreast of new technology and hardware product developments.
Valid and current state Driver's License.
Self-motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to diagnose equipment operational errors and product failures.

To maintain this leading position, the LNG business relies heavily on LNG start-up and field support expertise. An exciting opportunity is now open for a FieldServices Engineer to support this growth market both domestically in North America and internationally. The position is for an experienced person with an extensive breadth of skills including field and safety responsibility with the ability to effectively communicate with the home office and with our customers. Expected travel could be as high as 70% with a combination of field work and engineering project development in offices in some of the great cities of the world including London, Paris, Houston, Rome, Milan, and Yokohama.
