Allegheny Science & Technology (AST) is seeking an IT Customer Support / Field Service Technician to support our DOE customer in Idaho Falls, Idaho. This position is 100% onsite and will support a 9/80 schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to and diagnose problems through discussions with users including problem recognition, research, isolation, and resolution steps.
Utilization of problem management database and help desk systems.
Answer the help desk phones, input tickets into the automated tracking system, troubleshoot customer problems and provide customer assistance on all major products in the DOE-ID computing environment including, but not limited to: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft O365 Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and other applications specific to DOE-ID.
Maintain all hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, keyboards, disk drives, scanners, FIPS 140-2 compatible thumb drives and other peripheral equipment.
Ensure proper setup with the latest standards for all desktop and laptop systems. Image systems, address vulnerabilities, and office setup.
Assist in the distribution of security patches and ensure proper and timely installation.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting a Help Desk / Service Desk / Field Technician environment OR active A+ Certification with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience.
Must have at least a High School Diploma.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must have technical experience with Microsoft Office products.
Experience troubleshooting hardware related issues.
Must maintain a high level of customer service relationship standards.
Have a high level of time management skills in handling tasks, prioritizing tasks, completing tasks, and arriving to work on time.
Ability to obtain Government BAO clearance or higher, and an HSPD-12 badge.

About the role
The Nuclear Systems Engineer will serve as the cognizant system engineer within Aalo's team, supporting the Aalo-X reactor. You will oversee safety-related reactor systems at Aalo-X-handling design, operations, performance tracking, and lifecycle support.
What you'll do
Oversee and recommend design improvements for advanced micro-reactor demonstrators.
Monitor reactor systems during operations-data tracking, trending, and upkeep.
Ensure all systems meet national consensus safety standards (codes/regulations).
Perform engineering calculations, specifications, system analyses, and testing.
Maintain configuration management and design documentation.
Collaborate across teams-program managers, lead engineers-ensuring nuclear safety compliance.
Design support systems-P&IDs, PLC logic, layouts, and wiring.
Produce detailed design drawings, including physical layouts and installation details.
Create system and equipment design documents such as process and instrument control drawings and system design descriptions
QualificationsRequired
Proficient in systems-engineering lifecycle practices (INCOSE/NASA/DoD frameworks), requirement management, SEMP development, and configuration management tools

This includes the maintenance of existing platforms, upgrades to new versions, enhancements such as enabling HA and clustering, new from-scratch deployments, and engineering of future solutions for improvements. Responsibilities
Build and maintain deployments and collections using MECM and BigFix.
Provide endpoint management to workstations and servers.
