1974

Using a Cadillac chassis, the first six-door funeral limo was produced in 1974.

1979

To reflect this new global strategy, in 1979 Dailey and Wolfington incorporated the company as Carey International, Inc.

1984

Within four years Carey had more than tripled the size of its network, and by 1984 travelers could book a Carey vehicle in over 390 cities in 60 countries.

1986

What began with one limousine in 1986 has grown into one of the largest, most successful executive transportation companies in Connecticut and the tri-state area.

1992

When Matthew Johnston finished high school in 1992, he had two things going for him to begin his career: his knowledge of the limousine industry and his father’s connections.

1995

AJL International Chauffeured Limousine and Transportation has been providing worldwide transportation services since 1995.

1996

The company bought its first European operations in 1996, acquiring Camelot Barthropp Ltd. and Europcar Chauffeur Drive U.K. International, both based in London and with offices throughout the United Kingdom.

Long Island-based Manhattan Limousine, with a worldwide network of more than 300 affiliates, had revenues of approximately $18.4 million in 1996.

1997

By the end of 1997, CIRS provided more than 27,000 screens of information, including services available in each city, customer profiles, airport greeting capabilities, and over 200,000 rates in both United States and foreign currencies.

In the company's 1997 annual report Carey claimed that the typical independent operator earned, after expenses, two to four times the average annual wage of an employee driver.

1999

After only one year of working at a local funeral home, Matthew Johnston launched Johnston Limousines – that was rebranded later as AJL International Worldwide Chauffeured Transportation after merging with Accent Limousine in 1999.

2012

In 2012, Johnston relocated the company in the grounds of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

2020

In 2020, Johnston relocated the company again due to heavy growth and needed a larger facility.
