As a Youth Services Specialist, you will contribute to a positive customer experience by serving youth at your location through conversation and reading with youth. You will connect youth with books and promote our library's programs and services.
Position Schedule
Summer schedule:
Combination of mornings, afternoons, and evenings (with some flexibility)

What You'll Do:
Proactively greets youth and caregivers upon their arrival in the children's or teen area; engages adults and children in conversations and activities, promotes usage of the library collection and resources.
Connects youth and caregivers with books and with titles at their reading level.
Reads with youth individually or in small groups; encourages parents and caregivers to read and checkout books/materials.
Provides age / level appropriate activities for all youth.
Encourages participation in youth services programs; explains programs and available offerings to children, teens, parents and caregivers. Assists with youth programming as needed.
Encourages children and teens to complete the Summer Reading Challenge.
Assists customers with public technology.
Assists with displaying and organizing books, keeps area neat, and fills displays.
Assists with group registration for programs.
May answer basic reference questions.
Supports the Code of Conduct by following up with customers when necessary; alerts Security Officer and/or manager about suspicious behavior and similar risk to safety and security.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
Experience working with youth required.
Desire to work with children of all ages required.
Acts with the customer in mind using information gained from interacting with the customers. Meets the expectations and requirements of external and internal customers.
Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e., Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.

SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, Residential Services, the Specialist, Residential Care provides direct care support services to clients in a residential facility. Working closely with the House Coordinator, you will operationally support the facility, supervise the residents in the completion of their daily tasks and handle any emerging situations that require immediate attention. The Specialist, Residential Care serves as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, charting clients' progress to provide information for the clinical team to act on in their treatment of the residents.

Engage residents in at least one social/recreational activity per shift.
Observe the patient in self-administration of medication as directed.
Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks to clients in accordance with individual dietary guidelines.

SUMMARY
The Instructor, Human Patient Simulation (HPS) oversees the Human Patient Simulation Lab(s), ensuring the equipment is operating appropriately, cleanliness of the lab(s), scheduling and running simulations, tracking simulation effectiveness, providing tours of the lab(s), training clients in the use of simulations, and continuously improving the catalog of simulations to suite client's desired outcomes. Partnering with WCED leadership and the Director, Health Industry Solutions, they will assist in the identification and securing of new business and will assist in developing goals for the continued development of the HPS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Collaborates with Workforce, Community and Economic Development (WCED) leadership to secure new business for the Human Patient Simulation Lab(s)
* Develops and implements high quality learning and assessment scenarios and evaluates the effectiveness of simulation on the learning process
* Provides training for residents; nurses clinicians and other clients or staff who desire more involvement in the use of simulators
* Programs the software scenarios utilized for simulation experiences based on specific learning objectives identified by the client
* Develops new scenarios and modifies existing scenarios, recommending them for use
* Monitors HPS lab utilization ensuring supplies and equipment are gathered at all campus locations and assists in overseeing equipment/supplies setup, moulage, and maintenance after sessions
* Conducts scenarios, guiding the use of learned skills and understanding of the medical process
* Mentors and provides training to staff and faculty who will be conducting scenarios
* Provides recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials; negotiates purchase price for equipment; and assists in identification of funding sources for use in simulation and lab(s)
* Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all simulation equipment, ensuring consistency among individuals and lab locations
* Manages, compiles and reports statistics related to client evaluations of simulation experiences for each class, implementing change where needed
* Operates and maintains simulation equipment, including simulators, Audio/ Visual and recording equipment and assists in the training of other operators of the simulation equipment
* Develops and implements a maintenance plan for the simulation equipment and trouble-shoots the simulation equipment when needed, and maintains order and cleanliness of the Simulation Lab(s)

What You'll Do:
* Proactively provides a high level of customer service by engaging youth and families in usage of library resources, activities and programs.
* Creates a safe, welcoming environment that balances a fun atmosphere, engaging activities and relationship building, while supporting youth development and learning.
* Plans, promotes and presents programs and informal engagements for children of all ages at the location and off-site.
* Answers customer questions and provides customer service throughout the building. Makes referrals by locating appropriate sources of information using a variety of tools and resources.
* Connects with schools and community organizations to promote Young Minds programs and services through presentations, community events and networking.
* Works to diffuse youth confrontations, mediate and reduce tensions.
* Performs collection management activities for juvenile materials as directed. Creates displays and merchandises materials.
* Directs volunteer and volunteen activities including orienting, training and scheduling.
* Ensures that the children's and teen areas are neat, orderly and appealing to customers and staff.
* Maintains personal skills and knowledge through engagement with library trainings, reviewing resources and professional development conversations with other youth services staff members.
* Utilizes computer applications and library equipment, maintains current knowledge of system wide and location specific procedures, processes, policies and operations.
* Supports library policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct, by following up with customers when necessary; alerts Security Officer and/or manager about suspicious behavior and similar risks to safety and security.
* Performs other duties as assigned including serving on taskforces, committees, etc.
* Assumes responsibility for the operation of the location in the absence of a manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree required.
* 2-3 years' experience working with youth or community engagement required.
* Experience delivering programs and services to diverse audiences preferred.
* Interest and ability to serve and develop rapport with youth and their caregivers.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e., Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
* Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions).
Work requires occasional lifting or pushing of up to 50 lbs. and the frequent lifting or pushing of up to 20 lbs.

The NewPath Child & Family Solutions Life Skills Specialist plays an important role in teaching independent living skills to the youth in our program. The Life Skills Specialist assists youth and their family in achieving stated objectives and maximizing independence and productivity through support and training. The Life Skills Specialist has the opportunity to provide an environment that is growth-producing which stimulates self-confidence and autonomy.

What You Will Be Doing
Teach independent living skills and assist the youth and their family in achieving stated objectives.
Connect and work cooperatively with family members, significant others, and community partners for a successful outcome for our youth.
Assist in the development of individual's comprehensive services plans, transition plans and follow up plans.
Review, sign and implement ISP's as needed.
Supervise all activities of the independent living center during assigned shifts.
Participate in apartment tours and oversee the maintenance of the facility.
Develop and implement specific activities and tasks for our clients related to the objectives in their ISP with appropriate guidance.
What You Bring To The Table
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree or, college coursework in a human services related field preferred.
Prior experience working in the Mental Health/Social Services field.
Must have a working knowledge of behavioral interventions.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
Be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Have a valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance with no DUI/OVI violations and no more than 5 points on your MVR.
A clean criminal background check.
