Counselor will plan and carry out such activities as hiking, arts and crafts, sports, drama, swimming, and field trips. Experience working with youth, prior day camp experience, or experience programming camp activities preferred. Certification and Other Requirements * Must be at least eighteen (18) years old. * CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment. * Valid Texas Class C Driver's License Work Schedule * Must be available for work Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Overall Physical Strength Demands * Medium - Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Knowledge of: * Youth development and age-appropriate recreation. * Safety procedures, CPR/First Aid, and emergency response. * Recreational programming (arts, crafts, sports, nature, etc.) * City of Allen's PRIDE values and local standards of care. Counselors, along with their co-counselors, will work with a group of children each afternoon to lead them through afterschool activities in the JCamps After School Program. Counselors are assigned to either our Kindergarten or 1st-5th grade groups, depending on the day. As a group leader and facilitator, the Counselor is responsible for day-to-day programming and supervision of their group.
