Robert Bakos has over 20 years of experience in software development, with expertise in healthcare, medical imaging and cloud-based applications. Mr. Bakos is a Chicagoland native and is currently CTO and Security Officer at higi, a Chicago-based consumer health startup.Having joined higi shortly after its inception in 2011, Mr. Bakos became responsible for developing the engineering team and the organization's software solutions, both organically and through mergers and acquisitions. He has worked within higi's unique space to incorporate kiosk hardware, mobile, big data, IoT, and machine learning to implement a true cloud-based, HIPAA compliant infrastructure. Mr. Bakos manages software development, application architecture, infrastructure management and plays a role in higi's FDA/HIPAA regulatory compliance.Prior to joining higi, Mr. Bakos managed a software development team at Merge Healthcare, a medical imaging software company. At Merge, his work was focused on innovations in patient experience, including optimizing patient workflow using kiosks and mobile applications. He formerly served as a software engineer, primarily in the Partner Relationship Management space.Mr. Bakos earned a B.S from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.S. from Depaul University in Computer Science. He resides in the western suburbs of Chicago with his wife and four children. He is a passionate entrepreneur with a love of food, physical fitness and family.
