Responsibilities:
Actively participates in the site's safety and quality management programs.
Participates and practices Lean Manufacturing practices to include Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D Problem Analysis.
Prepares and reviews any and all production, safety and quality reports. Develops action plans with team members as needed for problem resolution.

Interfaces with customers and suppliers, Visits both as necessary.
Implements proactive and corrective maintenance practices relating all production equipment. This includes scheduling any production line maintenance (major or minor) as needed for location.
Develops and ensures sites have an effective preventative maintenance program and they are adhering to it.
Ensures plants are meeting the cycle time requirements to meet throughput objectives.
Ensures employees are properly trained in all aspects of their jobs to include safety, quality and production.
Makes decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to attain operational objectives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or operations management, Master's degree desired
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering and/or process improvement roles including managing teams of people
Previous experience working in a Lean environment
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification a plus
Strong understanding of mechanical equipment

Key Responsibilities
Production Oversight: Plan, schedule, and supervise all shop floor activities across fabrication (sawing, CNC machining, forming), welding (MIG), component assembly, and shipping/receiving.
Resource Management: Allocate labor, equipment, and materials to meet production targets and customer deadlines; adjust staffing and overtime as needed.
Quality & Compliance: Enforce quality standards, conduct root-cause analysis on defects, and implement corrective actions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead multiple crew associates focusing on the maintenance operation.
Leading and managing all landscape enhancement services, including the coordination of all materials, people, equipment, and subcontractors required to produce quality work. Monitor work habits and coach employees to achieve high productivity standards, safety compliance, and policy adherence.

Job Description
The Manager, Systems Production will be responsible for directing and coordinating production operations of one or more production processes. Directly influencing plant results, this position must maintain a high level of responsibility and confidentiality, visibility and accountability of managing quality, significant safety performance and successful production operations. Closely collaborate with Manager, Branch Production to ensure adequate labor, raw materials, and other resources are shared efficiently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Organization
Provide leadership and daily guidance to ensure high levels of quality, identifying issues and resolution, productivity, and employee involvement and ownership.

Collaborate with Manager, Branch Production to share resources and ensure that customer requests are fulfilled on time and efficiently.

Formulate plant strategy and annual goals and objectives that align with Company direction and overall business goals.
Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and high-quality standards for each production process, and all finished product
Achieve or exceed key performance indicators for Safety, Quality, Waste Control, Cost, and Production.
Conduct visual inspection, basic troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and/or electrical problems as on machinery. Keep machinery in good condition for best performance and highest efficiency through a basic preventive maintenance program
Locate and engage local vendors to ensure proper high-level maintenance of production machinery
Operate all aspects of the plant in an efficient, cost-effective manner including waste management
Oversee production schedule to maximize production efficiency to fulfill customer work orders
Track daily, monthly and yearly production efficiency and optimize manufacturing KPI's and processes
Maintain inventory by cycle counts and work with procurement to manage inventory levels
Implement and monitor FIFO based inventory rotation for stocked materials
Monitor new and existing orders to maintain correct inventory levels and communicate with sales team to minimize slow turning products
Oversee handling for all inbound shipments and scheduling of outbound shipments to minimize cost and meet customer requirements (i.e. utilize Silvercote equipment, LTL carrier, or truckload common carrier) to ensure Company Quality standards on product production, packaging, handling and shipping are met.
Support Capital Investment projects in teamwork with central engineering team
Manage implementation of new products, processes and work methods
Provide plant information and support central teams during budget process with branch related KPI's

Walk production area to help maintain high 5's standards.
Make sure that all areas are clean throughout the work day.
Clean up messes as they happen to ensure a safe environment.
Make sure daily layered process audits are being completed.
Be aware of any trial parts being processed.
Check with engineering prior to setting any trial parts/loads.
Verify proper process for setting or de-setting trial parts/loads.
Communicate with your team any special instructions.
Oversee instructions and be present for processing trial parts.
Check PC charts hourly to ensure blaster/polisher schedule are being maintained.

End of shift duties
Make sure all loads that have been completed and placed in ASRS.
Any loads that need completed from your shift are set up and ready to be processed.
Inform in coming shift of any loads that are waiting to enter the ASRS.
Inform in coming shift of any loads that where missed that need to be picked up.
Make sure to communicate with incoming shift any issues that may affect production.

Make sure work areas are free of debris and parts.

Sign-off on completed sort result sheets for verification that all affected parts were inspected and sheets filled out correctly Including how many good/bad and why bad. This applies when dock checks are done lineside
Lead all containment activities, communicating with Asst. Mgr and Quality leadership (confirm all parts are contained in PLEX and follow SNAP procedure)

Confirm daily that scrap and rework parts are maintained throughout their bay
Confirm daily that production requirements are being met according to line and customer demands by following and meeting the daily schedule

Expectation is to have presses running 15 minutes after shift start
A Gripper Audit is to be done monthly, if grippers are needed contact Press Maintenance
Delivery
Trouble shoot and assist in general maintenance on presses as needed (finger adjust/repair, die changes, destack feeder, mis-feed issues, material flatness, etc…)
Verify actual production recorded in the system from the Detailed Production History Report. Investigate any discrepancies and communicate to Asst Mgr. Follow up with forklift driver, Team Leader and operator as well
Visually monitor daily that all labeling procedures for racks and baskets are being followed (R/L placards, highlighters, etc…)
Verify correct packaging method according to part operation standard
Insure that presses are running at or above planned SPM
Continually monitor die changes and look for ways to improve die change time/efficiency
Create a plan for non 200% rework to be completed within 2 days of issue found date. If non 200% rework is not completed in 2 days overtime will be required.
Management
Following a safety, quality, cost or delivery incident/accident in your assigned area, it is your responsibility to notify Asst Mgr/Mgr, investigate and countermeasure to resolve the root cause
Conduct a daily start-up meeting with all associates in their bay
Make daily manpower adjustments in their bay based on attendance and production needs
Communicate daily with all departments as production issues arise
Report downtime to Ast. Mgr if down longer than 20 minutes
Ensure daily scheduled 5S is completed

Assist and follow up to verify PLEX cycle counts are completed (if applicable)
Continually follow up with associates to verify they understand inputting downtime, production in PLEX,not tagging ahead, etc….

SMS is seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused Production Foreman for its Mingo Junction, OH location. We are located on JSW steel mill property. Front line operations role responsible for direct supervision of daily activities of employees. Utilizes employees in the most efficient manner to maximize production and minimize costs. Leads and maintains the highest safety standards within the host Mill.
Responsibilities:
Ensure a safe workplace. Lead by example and adhere to safety requirements in a scrap and slag yard environment. Always wearing proper PPE and addressing any employee not adhering to PPE requirements.
Lead a production team and effectively manage each shift to maximize production and minimize costs in the most efficient manner.
Prepare daily reports and provide information to management as needed, including ensuring all inspections and operation checklists required to be completed by hourly employees are prepared and submitted appropriately.
Meet KPl's (Key Performance Indicators) to meet or exceed efficiency and performance standards.
Maintain strict compliance with SMS policies, and all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Control and coordination of mill service activities as delegated, including:
Scrap unloading and loading.
Scrap breaking, shearing and cutting (in conjunction with supervisor of the burning floor)
Rental work with personnel and equipment
Environmental services
MR Plant Operations
Scrap inspection
Timely rail services to the Customer.
Rail car repair
Ensure correct completion of all job-specific, employee-related paperwork including toolbox talks , daily activity sheet, timesheets and designated work permits.
Help prepare production schedules for each project to ensure the appropriate use of personnel, equipment and working schedules.
Plan for efficient and effective operations, including compliance with all company policies, practices and procedures, including with respect to spare parts, equipment and other onsite resource needs.
Help monitor the production process and adjust schedule as needed to manage headcounts and payroll expenses.
Ensure employee compliance with standard operating procedure for all production operations.
Work safely and ensure that employees are working safely during all phases of performing the job duties required.
Communicate clearly, including providing on-the-job training and assistance as needed.
Implement and drive continuous improvement.
Ensure all expenses are submitted and authorized prior to any financial commitments and receipts of all goods and services are completed within the correct financial period.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including Environmental, Safety and Health guidelines and best practices, including mitigating risks associated with contractors and vendor insurance and indemnification.
