TICO manufactures, owns, and operates a fleet of over 1500 terminal tractors (jockey trucks) and trailers deployed in major U.S. ports. TICO maintains an on-port operation where we service, maintain, and dispatch our own equipment as well as customer equipment. TICO is looking for current college students that are willing to utilize the education and training that they have received across logistics, operations, engineering, and management courses at their accredited college. SUMMARY The students that are designated as Summer Interns will be able to apply what they've learned in school to a real world, team based and fast paced industrial work environment at TICO's largest operation in Savannah, Georgia. In addition to basic Service Technician responsibilities, our Summer Interns will be responsible for the following essential duties:
Learning the roles of various departments and shifts that make up Garden City Terminal
Developing a thorough understanding of the TICO Terminal Tractor and other TICO owned and leased equipment.
Assisting in servicing and setting up equipment to dispatch to customers.
Coordinating and safely executing a smooth equipment dispatch with an operations team
Participating in the preparation of Confirmed Order Rental Reports (C.O.R.R.)
Engaging customers in a courteous and professional manner as well as anticipating and ensuring prompt and efficient attention to their needs
Recovering disabled equipment with specialized recovery and service equipment
Replace solid and pneumatic tires as needed.
Performing regular inspections of equipment to identify safety, compliance, damage, and maintenance-related defects.
Complying with all company/customer procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment and reporting any issues to Operations Manager
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Gain critical work experience and exposure to a wide range of logistics/operations issues.
Utilize educational background and training and applying it to on-the-job events.
Make observations of the current working environment, customer satisfaction, efficiency, and standard operating procedures and suggesting more efficient/safer options
