Responsibilities
Information Systems Technicians manage communication operations and networks aboard Navy vessels, and play a vital role in everything from electronic mail systems to special intelligence and information warfare systems. There are two types of Information Systems Technicians depending on whether you choose to serve on ships or submarines. Responsibilities may include:
INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (IT)
Establishing, monitoring and maintaining radio frequency communication systems
Operating and maintaining global satellite telecommunications systems
Transmitting, receiving and storing all incoming and outgoing messages
Managing and coordinating information systems security across platforms and fleets
Designing, installing and operating wide-area-networks, computer systems and associated devices
Performing network system administration, maintenance and training and manage network security
Installing applications, troubleshooting user problems and providing training and assistance with use of computer hardware and software
Writing programs to collect and distribute data for a variety of applications
Ensuring the proper security and handling of communications materials, systems and equipment
Performing diagnostics and data recovery operations and maintaining logs
INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN SUBMARINES (ITS)

Work Environment
As an IT, you are primarily stationed aboard ships at sea, while you'll serve aboard submarines as an ITS. You will also receive shore assignments. Your typical work environment will be a clean, climate-controlled indoor space used to house electronic equipment or computers.
Training & Advancement
Upon completion of initial training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (known as Boot Camp), both ITS and ITs report for specialized training, including:
Class A Technical School (24 weeks) in Pensacola, FL (for ITs) or Groton, CT (for ITSs) for training on Microsoft, Cisco and Oracle computer software and hardware fundamentals, automatic data processing, security, and system theory and operation.
After A School, Information Systems Technician Submarines (ITS) will also attend submarine training:
Basic Enlisted Submarine School (8 weeks) in Groton, CT, for training in basic submarine systems. Note that this training is only for Information Systems Technician Submarines (ITS).
After completing training, ITs and ITSs will receive their first assignments. ITs may be assigned to a ship, communication station or shore station, while ITSs may be assigned to a submarine, communication station or shore station. Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance.
Advanced Training
Advanced training as an Information Systems Technician may be available during later stages of your career. For those with further leadership aspirations and a college degree, Officer roles may be available, providing opportunities to lead and train others.
Post-Service Opportunities
Specialized training received and work experience gained in the course of service can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields in the civilian world, such as IT and network support, computer programming, web development, and information security.
Education Opportunities
Beyond offering access to professional credentials and certifications, Navy technical and operational training as an Information Systems Technician can translate to credit hours toward a bachelor's or associate degree through the American Council on Education.
You may also continue your education through undergraduate degree opportunities like the Navy College Program and Tuition Assistance and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Qualifications & Requirements
A high-school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor and an Information Systems Technician.
Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you must be a U.S. citizen eligible for a Top Secret security clearance, which requires a background investigation. Immediate family members must also be U.S. citizens.
IT and ITS applicants should have good arithmetic, writing and speaking skills, and should be able to use and understand computers. You should also be able to perform detailed work, keep accurate records and work well with others as part of a team. Important physical attributes include good manual dexterity and physical strength.
ITS applicants must be willing to serve aboard submarines.
General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving , whether you've served before or whether you've never served before .
Part-Time Opportunities
Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Information Systems Technicians in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, you may serve anywhere in the world, including locations in the U.S., at bases overseas, or in areas where humanitarian needs are great.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.
Information Systems Technicians in the Navy Reserve serve in an Enlisted role. Before receiving the ongoing professional training that comes with the job, initial training requirements must be met.
For current or former military Enlisted servicemembers, prior experience satisfies the initial Recruit Training requirement, so you will not need to go through Boot Camp again.
For those without prior military experience, you will need to meet the initial Recruit Training requirement by attending Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL. This training course will prepare you for service in the Navy Reserve and count as your first Annual Training.

In this role, you will:

Technical Support Specialist

Information technology technician job in Sacramento, CA
We are hiring a Desktop Support Specialist for this clients Sacramento office, which supports approximately 40 onsite users. This role is part of a 15-person IT support team that serves over 5,000 users nationwide across 24 offices and hundreds of job sites. While the primary focus is providing hands-on technical support at the local level, the position also provides day to day remote tech support to all 5000 users. Figure 30% local support and 70% remote support.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides desktop (local office) and remote IT support (all locations)
- Provides support via walk-up, phone, chat, or email.
- Resolves all first and second level support requests
- Documents incidents and problems in Zendesk (moving to Fresh Service) and escalates issues to the appropriate teams when required.
- Serves as the technical liaison to all users company wide, able to resolve technical issues within the desktop computing environment.
- Trains users on how to use hardware and software where necessary.
- When down time, which is rare, documents new procedures and processes within technician knowledgebase.
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated experience resolving level two technical issues in a M365 environment which includes:
o Windows 10/11 devices joined to Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
o Microsoft 365 apps like Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
o Exchange Online for email
o OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online for file storage and collaboration
o Microsoft Teams for chat, meetings, and calls
o Intune for device management and compliance
o Defender for Endpoint for security
- Must be familiar with ITIL, Hardware Life Cycle Management, Change Management, Incident Management
- Strong understanding of troubleshooting techniques and experience with remote troubleshooting tools.
- Able to assist users with connectivity issues, ensuring they can access network resources and the internet.
- Able to identify and resolve issues related to DNS and DHCP, such as incorrect IP addresses, domain name resolution failures, or DHCP server outages.
- Ability to monitor the desktop environment using hardware and software tools.
Environment:
- All Lenovo laptops - basic PXE boot, Windows 11 OS
- 70% of the tickets come via email or self-service; they use Zendesk. 30% of tickets you create on behalf of walk-up users, or you get them to create the ticket which can be challenging.
- 2000 tickets/month - supporting the entire company not just local office
- Troubleshooting done in person and over the phone; they use go to assist for remote support
- 70% phone/remote support, 30% desktop support.
- You will be the only IT person at this location; hours are 7AM to 4PM OR 8AM to 5PM
- 100% onsite

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Role Description: Provide quality on-site support to partners (clients). When not on mobile assignments, take service desk tickets and resolve. Assist with developing policies and procedures governing how to troubleshoot IT issues at partner sites, including identification, documentation, distribution, and resolution. May assess new products or services and suggest enhancements to senior management. Relies on extensive knowledge and professional discretion to achieve goals. Significant ingenuity and flexibility is expected.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Travel to various partner locations to perform onsite work on computer and network hardware and/or software.
Troubleshoot and solve support tickets while onsite at partner location.
Communicate with the partner contact to make necessary decisions and ensure satisfaction.
Install/replace/repair hardware and software, as necessary.
Assist with deployment of new workstations and user onboarding as assigned by Team Lead.
Back up all partner data in effort to ensure no data is lost and have the ability to get back to where the partner started, never create a worse than when you arrived.
Make suggestions to Team Lead regarding upgrades or changes which could enhance the partners' network/system and/or further allow for an enhanced overall partner experience.
Develop policies and procedures governing how to troubleshoot specialty issues, including identification, documentation, distribution and resolution.
Rely on industry knowledge and professional discretion to achieve goals.
Follow up with vendors or internal team members as needed for completion of issues
Assist service desk as needed to effectively resolve tickets.
Field telephone calls, email communication and support tickets regarding computer hardware and software.
Reinforce image and professionalism of the Executech Managed Services team and the organization.
Effectively communicate with internal and external contacts at all levels.
Promptly enter time into timesheets, tickets, expense reports and all other required documents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
5-7 years' experience and bachelor's degree in related area, preferred.
Current CompTIA A+, or Network+, or Security+ certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.
Knowledge of office equipment (copiers, fax, printers, etc.).
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills necessary.
Proficient with network troubleshooting and topologies.
Professional, pleasant, and patient in demeanor, exceptional customer service.
Valid Driver's License.

Position Summary:
The Technology Support Specialist is tasked with resolving support tickets by conducting thorough technical troubleshooting, managing requests, and providing user training and guidance.
