What You'll Do
Prepare and cook meals for residents according to their individual dietary needs and preferences, collaborating with the dietary team to ensure meals are nutritious, flavorful, and meet all safety and dietary standards. Your key responsibilities will include:
Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, ensuring they are nutritious, appealing, and meet residents' dietary needs and preferences.
Follow dietary guidelines and restrictions for each resident, including special diets such as low-sodium, diabetic, pureed, or texture-modified meals.
Assist in menu planning with the dietary team, taking into account; residents' needs, seasonal ingredients, and budget considerations.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and preparation.
Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure meals meet established standards for taste, appearance, and texture.
Support inventory management by tracking food and supply levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with ordering and restocking.
Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and safe, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
Collaborate with dietary staff, including aides and nutritionists, to coordinate meal service and ensure smooth kitchen operations; while interacting with residents to discuss menu options, accommodate special requests, and address dietary concerns, providing excellent customer service.
What We're Looking For
Prior experience as a Cook in a Healthcare or Institutional setting is preferred.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry food trays, and perform other tasks related to food service.
Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs.(25% of time), while standing/walking 95% of time.
Availability to work weekends & holidays when required.
Understanding of dietary requirements and special diets, including therapeutic diets for medical conditions.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Culinary training or certification preferred. Higher starting rate with ServSafe Manager credential.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
