The Assistant Plant Manager supports the Plant Manager in all aspects of operations to meet production goals safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and applicable government regulations. This is a developmental role with the aim to make the incumbent familiar with the safety concept, the production process, the operation personnel and team concept, the site organization and culture, the relevant internal and external stakeholders as well as Evonik company KPIs and guidelines. The Assistant Plant Manager is a key player for the transformation of Mapleton and acts as the deputy of the Plant Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in maintaining the ESHQ and HACCP Improvement Process
Assist in maintaining open communications with plant personnel to ensure continuity of safe, efficient operations.
Assist the Plant Manager in planning for and managing the overall production operation.
Assist in preparing and maintaining production, safety, equipment and personnel records through cooperation with the plant engineers, plant process engineers, engineering process engineer, maintenance coordinators.
Research and act upon employee requests and recommendations. Complete responsibility for all activities and personnel within the building Scope.
Assist in investigating and resolving customer product complaints,
environmental and safety incidents. Ensure compliance with applicable ISO and Food Safety, GMP procedures in production operations.
He/she takes part in plant tours on cleanliness, safety and occupational health and ensures timely corrective actions.
Assist in establishing and administering facility safety and environmental programs/processes, including Variance action items and MOC processes.
Project management - act as Project Responsible on capital projects in the unit
Substitute for the Plant Manager during his absence.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor or Master of Science Degree, in Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree and experience.
Minimum five years' experience in a chemical process plant environment with supervision and/or engineering responsibilities.
Skills with communicating/working with individuals with varied backgrounds Strategic vision
Continuous improvement background.
PSM experience is a plus.
Summary Compensation & Benefits:

JOB SUMMARY

The major functions of this position is:
Provide authentic Maui Jim Prescription Sunglasses to optical retailers and provide outstanding customer service and support throughout the world. To lead and direct the work flow in the Surface department at the direction of the shift supervisor.

Essential Duties:
Monitor the workflow through the Surface department. Follow all written procedures to insure proper operation of equipment.
Surface lenses utilizing the proper lab equipment.
Proactively communicate any issues relating to production or personnel to the Supervisor.
Train employees on surface processes and procedures. Responsible for maintaining the training of Lab personnel based on written procedures.
Ensure team members are meeting company and department expectations by providing them with daily feedback, as well as discussing production reports with them.
Communicate and escalate any issues requiring the direction of the Supervisor i.e. behavior or production issues, employee relations issues, etc.
Perform all duties within the Surface Department as needed to ensure the continual flow of production.
Serve as the “go-to” person for Surface Dept inquiries.
Consult with the Equipment Engineer on equipment issues.
Monitor the cleanliness of the department through the use of production personnel.
Maintain constant communication with all personnel to ensure policies and procedures are constant with all shifts.
Troubleshoot and identify corrective action for delays with workflow including spoilage.
Multi-task to maintain an efficient flow of production and breakage.
Work between all Rx departments to accomplish our mutual goal of High Quality, Customer Satisfaction, High Production, and Low Spoilage.
Troubleshoot production delays.
Monitor supply usage and waste.
Multitask to maintain efficient flow of production and breakage.
Assist Customer Service in locating, tracking, and expediting Rx orders through the surface department.
Provide back-up to the shift supervisor in his/her absence.
Perform all other duties as outlined and directed by the Lab Manager/supervisor on a day-to-day basis.
Special Physical Requirements:

Large Power Systems Division (LPSD):
We design and manufacture the most comprehensive lineup of large diesel and natural gas engines in the industry, as well as engine components and powertrains.
What You Will Do (including but not limited to)
* Sets up, operates, and adjusts machines to perform a variety of functions to manufacture, assemble, and test stators and propulsion modules for electric drives.
* Locate, identify and use proper fixtures and tooling to set-up and operate automatic MIG and Plasma weld machines. Repair non-standard weld flaws, conduct pre and post inspection on all welds.
* Use blueprints, gages, torque measuring devices and/or other equipment to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
* Set-up, operates and adjust CNC Lathe to perform machining operations to meet finish requirements on standardized parts.
* Operates machines to form wire coils and wire assemblies. Performs routine assembly and manipulation of wire assemblies. Repair non-standard wire and wire assemblies' flaws.
* Operates and monitors automatic and robotic equipment for stator welding and assembly. Operates presses to form assemblies and repairs such assemblies. Operates machine to test electric stators. Test of assemblies' groups and units.
* Operates and monitors vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) system for resin sealing application to electric motors and generators. Including the operation of process chambers with hydraulically operated door and locking ring Monitor electric curing ovens, vacuum, pumping systems, chiller/circulation pump systems and low speed agitators.
* Performs measure and mixture of chemical solution and apply to standardized parts. Operates electric ovens.
* Operates hoist and manipulators to move parts and materials. Operates multiple types of DC Torque tooling to tighten fasteners and couplings. Uses hand tools, power tools, packing, shipping materials and tools to facilitate job functions.
* Performs variety of inspection functions to check quality and accuracy of in-process parts
* Operates mobile equipment as required to facilitate job functions. Services mobile equipment by adding fuel, replacing batteries, etc. and reports defects and need of repairs. Maintains related records.
* Performs a variety of manual functions such as cleaning, weighing, counting, packing, marking, stenciling, storing and disbursing materials and supplies for production.
* Performs a variety of functions to check receive, ship parts and materials.
Basic Qualifications
* High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
* Ability to work overtime when required, including weekends
* Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork
* A mechanical background or industrial assembly experiences
