/Objective To further the mission of Girl Scout Camp by serving as the primary caregivers for each camper. The camp counselor is responsible for leading and caring for groups of campers; planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities; and guiding campers in their personal growth and skill development. Camp Linden is a rather large property that spans over 400 acres. You should be comfortable walking long distances. Your schedule may change with little notice due to weather or other circumstances, and flexibility is key. The typical schedule is Sunday through Friday, though some Saturdays may be required. You should feel ok being away from home and having an independent group-living experience with a hundred other kids and staff. JOB SUMMARYThe Respite Counselor is part of TFC's respite weekends and day camp programs during the fall, winter, and spring seasons where we provide accessible outdoor experiences such as horseback riding, sports, challenge education, creative arts, picnics, water activities, and gardening. The Respite Counselor position will supervise and assist campers (adults and youth) with disabilities in daily personal care (includes showering, toileting, feeding, dressing, etc.) while encouraging participation in daily recreational activities. II. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSJob Responsibilities: Provide and assist campers with personal care based upon individual needs. This includes dressing, feeding, toileting, showering, teeth-brushing, etc. Provide direct supervision of the campers to ensure their safety and whereabouts at all times. Guide and assist campers in a range of outdoor activities. Document the camper's progress toward meeting his/her treatment goals. Set-up and ensure recreation equipment is secure and stored properly. Complete required documentation and paperwork required by licensing and Agency policy. Dispense topical medications prescribed to campers. Job Description The Ferndale Parks and Recreation Department is seeking caring, energetic, and responsible individuals to serve as Extra Care Counselors for its state-licensed Summer Day Camp program. Extra Care Counselors support the Morning and After Care programs by creating a safe, welcoming, and relaxed environment for campers outside of regular camp hours.
